JL Audio XD600/6v2 right settings?
hi guys!
i just finished installing xd600/6v2 and sws-8xi on my e92 with hifi system (sa676). i wonder what the right gain settings are, andif i should set low input or high input? manual says low input range is from 0.2v to 2v, and high input range is from 0.8v to 8v? instead of the 0.4v to 4v on the xd600/6 (v1). right now i set it to high input, gain at 9 o'clock for the fronts and rears, and at 12 o'clock for the underseats, and it sound great. but i'm still wondering... thanks |

i have a similar amp, the JL HD600 which also has the 2 input ranges. I found the best luck by using the low input range (.2-2V) and running the gains low. my system gets very loud with no distortion. i think this is the case because although technically the hifi head unit will put out 5 v at max, it is real hockey stick curve, you will only get the high voltage 3-5 v at very high head unit volume levels where the head unit is clipping.

ok guys, after fiddling for several hours i found my perfect settings
front chinch splitted to front & sub rear chinch to rear 6-channel mode front gain @ min. rear gain @ min. sub gain @ 11 o'clock (low input range) front hpf 100hz rear hpf 120hz sub hpf! 50hz on the sub-channels i put some fmods for lpf 150hz, so they're bandpassed from 50-150hz. idrive treble +3 idrive bass +7 balance/fader 0 now it sounds sooo awesome!!! i can turn it so extremely loud without distorting bass! also sound-stage is beautiful! the trick really was to bandpass the underseat-subs, because on highpass they distorted pretty soon and on lowpass the mids sounded muddy... i wanted to add a trunk sub but now i don't have anymore needs for it still gonna watch out for some decent front speakers hope this helps someone! |

when you say front channel 'splitted' is this a physcial split, eg using a y adapter to feed the amps input channels 1,2,3,4?
I'm looking to use the fmod too and the only way i can see of getting it onto the underseats channels only is by physically splitting the front signal from the head unit (i currently only have front rcas going into channels 1 and 2 and they are 'summed' by the amp for channels 3 & 4 to feed the underseats....

Sorry for the late answer.
Yes, I mean phisically split. ................................ /-> Ch. 1 & 2 Front Chinch -> Splitter ```````````````````` \-> Fmods -> Ch. 5 & 6 Rear Chinch -> Ch. 3 & 4 Btw: HPF for fronts should be set at 200Hz and for rears at 220-250Hz! |
