P2402 Code

This code says, basically "DMTL Pump Control Circuit High". Seems like this most likely indicates a failed DMTL pump. There are no visible problems with the wiring or hoses.

Before I replace the pump, Is there any chance this is simply a bad gas cap?

Both BMW Fault Code Lookup & ISTA give this Definition for P2402 | 2A13 and this Fault Info Sheet:
2A13 | DME: DMTL leak diagnosis pump, activation | msd80
https://bmwfault.codes/XMLDiagView?d...gAOQAzADAANAA=

Attached to next post is the ISTA wiring diagram for LATE 2007 335i (built 3/1/2007 on). Check for 12V+ at Pin #4 of Connector X17140 (Red/White wire) with ignition ON. If NO voltage, check F74 if LATE 2007 model. Also attached to next post is Location (in the E-box) of the two connectors between the DME and the DMTL.

As you can see from the wiring diagram, the DME sends a Ground Signal to Pin #1 of X17140 (Brown/Blue wire) to activate the DMTL Pump Motor. There are separate Ground Signals for the Valve and the Heater. Your pump may be fine. You MAY have a wiring fault between the DME & DMTL. Wiring faults beneath the car near the pump are commonly-reported.

All very helpful information. Especially the connector locations. Thank you!

I did crack open the pump, and saw nothing unexpected. Everything inside looked just like new. The solenoid valve works fine, but the pump motor seems to me rather lethargic, and I could not get it to generate any detectable vacuum, at all. I'm going to go ahead and replace it, and hope that fixes the problem. If not, then I''ll dig into the wiring, which, with this new information, should be quite easy.
