The only thing the K/D can cables can't do is the Head Unit
changes from stereo to Hi Fi to Logic 7 or visa versa. As you have said the Icom A is suppose to work yet I have had people with Icoms say they have to plug in there Most Bus Don't know if this is only with Ista p or NCS expert to. connection from there Icom before they can proceed with the stereo system changes. I don't know if this is true. The link I posted seems to suggest that a true Icom has memory buffering and a speedier data rate. The new Bimmergeeks blog about there super cable says its better but only 10 percent faster. |

So it looks like consensus is as far as we all know Bimmergeeks cables lean towards being somewhat fully capable and are some of the best k+dcan cables, being able to read the radio module which most others have issues. I’m going the route of a icom because I plan on getting a f chassis within a year or two and some of my family has f chassis's so it will come in handy.

Its the year of the car or the transition to D can from k can that is
the problem. You can have a cheap d/k can cable on a 06 and do anything to it . After 3/07 when they went to D which seems o be where the problem seems to lie, though its a nebulous area. Also not sure if the Head Units have something to do with it. |

You CAN change from base to $676 with a K+DCAN...I've done it. 2011 E90 328i with base stereo. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding the statement.

I will check next time I go to a shop to fix a car. I use an ICOM, but connecting the K-Dcan cable won't take long. |

I wonder if we could get a consensus on the Bimmergeeks
cable working for this or confirmation from Bimmergeeks. Changing the stereo options that is. The thing the tout about there cable is speed and stability. |

Regarding you display of the fact hi fi is working is that another
nickt active parameter that must be changed? I can never get that to display on my radio through the service menu. MY_INFO_RAD2 nicht_aktiv V_INFO_RAD2 nicht_aktiv Like these last parameters in the Rad file must be aktiv for this to work. I have an 06 so no trouble changng Rad parameters with just a K can cable. |

If they give me my father's day gift of garage-time, I'll go check my 2URAD vs those items and try to confirm your findings. But again, I didn't do much more that VO changes, IIRC. |

This is actually what I did. I will still try and read out my 2URAD so we can get specific, but this was it: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...4&postcount=17 haha, turns out we had this discussion a year ago. |

But I find it hard to believe that the E92 would have such a different 2URAD setup when the models share almost everything else in every other module. EDIT: To be fair, there is a difference between EU/US/et al with the 2RAD vs 2URAD, so maybe that. Perhaps we should be looking at radio production dates as a better indicator, or what firmware is in the car? Have people tried getting their cars updated and had different results? I think I have an advantage having the last model year, plus I know that all my firmware is the latest (since dealer did it for me in 2016 or 2017 and rechecked last year). They started integrating some of the stuff of the offboard modules
into the pro radio at some point. USB , Sat , Dab and bluetooth. In Europe they have some versions that don't have a Most Bus. Not clear if the D/K can not being able to change the radio started with the 3/07 change to D can or sometime later . I thought Blue water has a 2011. Last edited by ctuna; 06-15-2019 at 11:58 AM.. |
