Just picked up a phone message from my CA that says my car is "in port".
Tried to call and just got a message, I'll update when I talk to him directly. I can hardly stand the wait to hear from him. Last edited by F30Toad; 12-13-2006 at 01:55 PM.. |

My two guesses are: 1. The car was on a different ship. 2. There is a mistake in the computer somehow. The one thing I do know is, if it is true that my car is in port already, I am psyched. If not, I've already gotten my hopes up a bit and it will be a hard fall when the truth hits. |

Well.... My rep said the boat (as she calls it) will be in today and I should be able to pick up the car in about 7 days.... That has changed from what she said before of a Sunday the 17th pickup  At least my baby's on her way... and if I have waited this long, a few more days won't hurt. But damn I can't wait!!!
As you can tell, not many details from her but I think I am in the same boat (no pun intended) as E90Toad. Let me know what your rep tells you Toad.

Well, I'd love to believe it, but I think these dealers are all reading off the same original schedule.
I would be very curious to know if any of our CA's actually got some kind of official confirmation that the boat has docked, because it's not shown up on AIS Live yet. I checked AIS Live several times today, and I haven't seen Hual Africa appear in the Long Beach or Port Hueneme area either yesterday or today. Here's the latest screen shot below. I still think we'll see the Hual Africa on AIS arriving in Long Beach tonight or early tomorrow - and then arriving in Port Hueneme a day or so later.

It would be nice to know what is going on... 50gs is 50gs. On to the positive side of things though, its just about here!!:rocks:

Yes that's it! I can see the Hual Africa now passing north of San Diego on its way to Long Beach. It's 1:13 AM PST.
So just as I predicted two days ago, it's going to reach Long Beach early today (the 14th), spend the day there and arrive in Port Hueneme late tonight or early on the 15th. I think this proves that the dealers are just reading off a 20 day old schedule which has it arriving at Port Hueneme yesterday, despite the fact that the ship is actually a day or two behind. Unlike us, it appears they don't have access to any real-time info about the ship's true whereabouts.

And I saw my first Montego blue 335 coupe last weekend...looked great. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Back to the topic of tracking our ship....I can't seem to find the Hual Africa on the AIS site any more? Anyone else having better luck?

Can't find it on AISlive either. It either sank or it turned off it's transponder while docked. Maybe we can spot it this evening heading out of Long Beach.

Well, no conformation on my car being in port for sure, but my CA did say he was expecting my car would be here by the end of next week.
Hopefully not based on bad info because now I am really counting on it. My family has a big Xmas eve get together and I have not told any of them about my new toy. Really hoping to prove to them that I am not on the naughty list.:rocks: Or maybe a 335 confirms it. |

8:40 pm, PST: Check it out! Hual Africa is about 25 miles north of Long Beach. Just a couple of hours more to go!

its funny becuase my dealer said its already at the port too and HAS promised he will get me my car before XMAS - say they unload it tomorrow AND they work the VPC on the weekend then I think we should all be getting our cars before XMAS. I might go to Port Huenne to see if I can see the ship - I don't live that far from there.

Here's a good areal shot of the VPC. To see the port, just pan the satellite map north to the boulevard and go west a few blocks.
http://wikimapia.org/216336/?bigphoto=2730 Also, from someone who toured the VPC a few years ago: "The VDC was up and running even though it was Saturday. Our tour guide, Eric, stated that they normally worked 7AM to 4PM M-F, but worked Saturdays when there was high demand for "Priority One" vehicles (Priority One is a car that is already sold)." http://www.autospies.com/news/Did-yo...-factory-1348/

I remember reading that article quite a while back, just didn't remember the quote about Saturdays, thanks. Hopefully there are enough priority one cars there to keep them working.
