Just trying to save some $ since the US dollar is destroying us Canadians.

https://www.amazon.com/Automatic-Tra...Zf+24117571227

This part # matches up with the oem one which I think will be fine but my only question is regarding the fluid, I know ZF is the best route to go but based on other posts I've seen some people recommending pentosin ATF1 , it meets the bmw standard and amazon says it will work for the 335d but just wondering if anybody has experience with it ? Or particularly the best price fluid

According to my 5 second math, you'd be saving about $40 USD buying that fluid instead of the LG6 fluid from The CTSC. If that $40 is worth the "risk" then go for it. I recommend just buying the kit from The CTSC. $260 for the filter, fluid, 5 new screws, fill plug, and a new mechatronic sleeve. My reasoning for going OEM everything was if I'm going to drive a car with a big price tag, I'm going to buy the genuine stuff. Especially when it comes to the witchcraft that is a transmission.

Transmission fluid+filter change

I did the fluid and filter change this week and thought I would show the parts used.
Bought the Bapmic kit from Amazon; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I thought this was high quality (German company) fit very well and included replacement screws, sealing sleeve, and other parts.
For the fluid, I used Ravenol, also from Amazon; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
[Note: the name of the product listing on the page is incorrect but the picture and description are accurate; most important I received what I ordered.] This also is a German company and the fluid meets the required Shell spec and is relatively lower in price.
The job took longer than I thought (first time) but is not too difficult as long as you have a way to measure fluid temperature (I used the Foxwell scanner) , a means of pumping fluid in (I used the inexpensive Harbor Freight fluid transfer pump that actually worked well), and conscientiously follow the procedure with fluid temperature contingencies.

No. At least not yet.
I think the Foxwell/Shwaben scanner can program it. And, I have read about a DIY method.
Not sure it would be worthwhile. What do people think?

Not required after a fluid change. Unless you changed to a different fluid or you old fluid was really bad, not with it.

The transmission might feel different for a few driving cycles but it will just revert back to the same values.

Definitely need to reset adaptations after fluid and filter change. At least that is what bmw tells us is needed and it makes sense.

Since I reference this thread rather often for transmission service DIY, I feel I should compile some information in one post.

1. Change all sleeves as well. www.realoem.com is your friend.

2. Kits can be bought from www.fixmyvw.com, www.idparts.com, www.thectsc.com, www.fcpeuro.com. Sleeves have to be bought separately. Do a little searching.

I personally took the change the pan/filter only approach since i did not have a leaking issue previously i didnt want to take on that project since i didnt feel comfortable removing the mechantronics from the trans. I put about ~25k on it since with no issues, I plan to do a oil change (use the same filter) on the trans this year just to give the fluid a nice refresh since it does see some track duty, and probably diff too.

there are two types of ppl, those that prime their fuel filters and those who crank em...i was a cranker lol

For anyone interested, FCP Euro has a great deal going on right now. I just picked up all these sleeves for ~$35

I installed xHP last week and serviced the transmission, (filter, sleeves, etc.) yesterday. I went with the Baptic kit and Ravenol fluid.
Since I'm just recently on xHP do I still need to reset adaptations?

just got a 335i 6at. Its got 74k mi on her. I dont believe the trans has been serviced before. Can I get away with just doing a drain and fill? or should I do the whole kit (pan, sleeves, whatever else these things need)?

another question. If you want to launch hard do you start in M2? 1st gear seems so low it either balks because the TC kicks in or if you switch it off it just burns rubber as soon as the boost hits then makes an awkward shift to 2nd??

xHP says not to reset adaptations for their trans tune, but he changed the oil, filter and sleeves. As per Yozh and BMW the adaptations should be reset?

I have xHP Stg 3 v2.2 and can idle and launch in M2 without issue. Perhaps I'm not understanding your post.
