Why aren't peeps using the def tank for meth

Gathering parts for a build which will include a meth system to my 335D. I was wondering why most are using the inadequate washer reservoir or the added expense of a trunk mount while the existing def tank is right there. I know a few have done it a while back, but no DIY or write-ups. So what's the secret? Why isn't this common practice? Seems like a no brainer.

I am also wondering why peeps would buy an Aquamist 160psi non weatherproofed pump for over $200, when the 300psi, weatherproofed Snow is $160?

Any additional recommendations on solenoids and nozzles for a stage 2 system and where to buy would be appreciated. Stainless vs nylon lines?

I have already purchased a Torqbyte controller from Aaron Jindra.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

2011 335D Sport, deleted, probably Malone tune, DP w/ straight exhaust, ATM IC & Intake -- maybe aftermarket turbos down the road.

Because the entire DEF system, including tanks, pump and the rest of it constitutes about 50 pounds of useless junk.

Loose the tank. The tank can be used later for whatever reason. Plus it weighs a lot.

No, this is silly. I weighed it all and it came to like 8 or 9 pounds for tank with pump and tubing.

Wow. Such an informative group. I should post here more often. Thank you all for all the insightful, informative replies. I'm sure, that with all the responses, that I will be able to make a well informed decision on how and where to spend my money AND to represent our shared platform.

Mic drop.

I would like this answer as well, as this would be my next non-suspension mod. I don't see the usual knowledgeable contributors responding. Maybe with a little time.

One concern I had was if the normal meth pumps could pull a vacuum, since the pump location will likely be below the bottom of the tanks.

Most meth pumps arent that good at pulling fluid. My pump is mounted on tank and is at the lower portion of it.

I am using the DEF tank for water/methanol. I've mounted the pump below the engine under the steering on a frame rail using the metal zip ties. That way it is always the lowest point in the system and has no issues priming. Everything gravity feeds to it. I ganged both tanks together so that the upper tank gravity drains to the lower tank using simple fittings. (edit to add detail: I also put a 'high' fitting in so the air can escape from the lower tank and vent to the upper part of the upper tank.) The whole arrangement holds 6 gallons. I use a cut-off BMW DEF bottle as a filling funnel. Works great.

There's no reason it can't be used. Works great. Get under there and see for yourself.

I left the stock pump in place --it seems like a silly expenditure of effort to remove 1 or 2 lbs.

Soon I'll be installing a Westfalia hitch, so we'll see what dents and modifications I have to make to my tanks system.

I used the Execuhitch and didn't need to do any modifications, other than to not use their wiring harness. It wouldn't work with the wireless brake controller I used.

I tow a 2,000 pound small travel trailer that has trailer brakes. 25 mpg with an RV, and lot's of funny looks from people drying by.
