It sounds like you are tuning very conservative. There is no proper order per say. They should all be done at some point. If you have large IAT's right now then that is a sign you're in need of an FMIC as prioirity. When I modified my 335i I did a Tune fist then intake and fmic at the same time. I did downpipes last. |

I just want to run the Stage 1 + FMIC map on MHD tune. Everything else on my 2010 335xi is stock and will probably stay that way for the near future. Which FMIC would be recommended considering I live in Hawaii where its always 70-90 degrees? Also is an oil cooler recommended? Thanks!

ETS is a great option and is true plug and play, no cutting required

Is 5" fmic bigger than stock fmic size or just better performance. Original post mentions risk of covering over engine components and heatining them up |

20" W x 5.12" H x 4.5" D= 460ci core volume 102sq/in ambient face 5" is bigger and keep in mind some manufacturers have the stepped core design which covers even more space (VRSF and Wagner) Wagner EVO 1 dimensions vs stock Size 520 x 210 x130, 11.752cm? Volume (OEM 510x130x110mm, 7293cm? Volume)

Below is a 4th gear pull @ 35 PSI big single. This car made 790whp and the ambient temperature was 94 degrees Fahrenheit. As you can see there is a minimal 11 degree rise in intake temperatures and the boost maintains steadily throughout the RPM range providing adequate flow for the PTE 6466 turbo.

What would you guys recommend for a 335is with dp, dci, MHD tune, 93 oct, stock turbos? My goal is around 400 whp.
Is it true a 7" is overkill for stock turbos? And is the only difference between evo1 and evo2 the size? |

EVO 1 and VRSF 5" would still get the job done, but its worth it to upgrade to a bigger FMIC at this power level. Wagner offers 4 intercoolers: EVO 1 Performance EVO 2 Performance EVO 1 Competition EVO 2 Competition Difference between EVO 1 and EVO 2 is size and end tank design. EVO 1 is 100% plug and play, EVO 2 will require minor trimming Performance is bar and plate intercooler, competition is a tube and fin intercooler Tune and fin intercoolers are lighter and recover much faster which is the main reason why they are used by racing teams and serious track drivers

I've read reports of lag on the bigger FMIC's. Anyway, now i'm debating on going cheaper with VRSF or EVO2. I still don't have a DP yet so I also need to save for that. |
