Fantastic advice ^ you watch the dealers face when you say all of that to him you'll know straight away if there's problems with history/car.

Hope it turns out to be a decent car for u. I drove from Liverpool to Portsmouth to view a 330cd 3 years ago, everything checked out was in contact with the seller for a week about the car seen the history done the checks etc, turned up and the cheeky twat was turning the car over as pulled into street, filled the street with blue smoke. Really bad, you should of seen his face when I walked up to him, changed colours 3 times, Glad I was 15mins early.

Walked away and had to drive back to Liverpool I was gutted.. Saved myself from buying a lemon no doubt.

So my advice is do the posts above and turn up 15 mins early 👍

Just taken it for a test drive, sounds amazing, no rattles.
Started engine up from cold, got a video which I'll post shortly.
I didn't see any drips of oil on the floor but the guy isn't budging on price.
Got new tyres at the front so the flat spots have been sorted.
Having lunch now to think about it...got 1.5 hours to make up my mind.

I don't think you need to make your mind up so quickly, surely for that money you can have more time, even if you have to place a refundable deposit?

I never saw oil on my drive, when my MOT said oil leak and yet when the car was repaired by new owner it was new rocker gasket; surely the key is that the cause was dealt with?

The front bushes are a simple fix. Just install m3 trw front control arms. About $200 us, bushings are included. It's an upgrade too. The trw ones are oem with the m logo literally ground off and half the price.

Congrats , but seeing as I live in Cardiff you could have put my pint behind the bar at the pub nearest the dealers

Private sale I guess unless the dealers part ex offer is worse than WBAC and the like.

Just for future ref, these are the control arms you'll probably want. The normal ones can be fitted too for about the same price (jtc1028, jtc1029, etc..), but most will probably tell you go for the M3 parts. There are plenty of how to's with the extra few parts you need too.

N55s sound quite a bit different to the N54. That's what losing 2 cats and a turbo does.
