Looking for NorCal Shop to Replace N54 Turbos

Anyone have a good shop? I called around a few shops in NorCal got quotes below for LABOR ONLY.

My plan is to order the ECS Mitsubishi Turbos Replacement kit and have shop install those.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assemble...65764928990kt/

I know SSR in SoCal has a good deal on installation($800) and Pure Turbos+installation prices. I might do that, but I wont be in Socal until Bimmerfest, and I wanted to get this done before then.

Speed Element quoted $880-$900
SonicMS - $1500
Edge Motorworks- $2700

Might be leaning towards Speed Element, but wanted any second opinions on another shop or if anyone had turbos or major work done there I wanted to ask on their experience there.

Cheers!

I got quoted from SSR for stage 2 pures and they said it was around 4k while oem replacements are 3.6k with pure oem turbos. Its a crazy deal so id rather save and wait for stage 2s.

How long ago did you get that quote?

They recently posted in the CA sub-forum for $800 turbo installation when you bring your own parts or $650.00 when you buy a set of Pure's from them. And call to quote turbo pricing.

Pure's Stage 1/OEM Replacement is $1690.00 per Pure's website $2340 rough price with no discounts, but they do advertise a discount on their post.

Stage 2 $3095.00 per Pure's website about roughly $3745.00 no discounts.

It wasnt long ago but the quote counted the labor as 950 instead of 650 so that should be the reason

I would recommend Full Function Motorsports (FFTEC) in Hayward, CA.

Which shop did you end up going with for the turbo installation?

Boosthaus in Fremont. Had them take care of the oil pan gasket while the subframe was out as well.

Darrell and Josh are awesome people over there and they totally went above and beyond my expectations and overall had a great experience. Not sure if they're already on the forums or I would tag them.

Edit: I also got my turbos from FCP Euro and price matched ECS's price, since they have a lifetime warranty and if the turbos go out again my plan is to try to DIY it.

How much did they charge you for the turbo install? How does the new set of turbos feel?

$1000 flat rate labor for turbo install. I supplied turbos, install kit and coolant.

& some extra for fluids & oil pan gasket and bolts

And they feel GREAT even at 6000-6800 ft elevation. Great to hear the turbos with no rattle, something I have not heard since like 90k miles. Already put about 1000 miles on them.

Thanks for the info! I'm narrowing my choices down and going to setup an appointment for the install soon. Glad to hear you're enjoying your new turbos.

Update?

Curious how this worked out for everyone. Im also in the market in the bay area and have had enough of the stock turbos and the wastegate issues. I already have them replaced at 60k a couple of years ago and then got the Dinan tune and they failed again at 65k miles.

Thanks!

Can vouch for Greg at Performance Dynamic in Santa Clara, his prices are fair, and he goes the extra mile.
