Would any of you use this jack?
https://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-...ack-64264.html
I know that Harbor Freight gets a bad rep by some, and that a floor jack takes place in the top items to not cheap out on, but I thought that I'd ask since it's on clearance. I'm also saving up for a QuickJack so I'd like to budget. Is there any way of telling whether it's safe or not or whether it's long enough to reach the mid jack points? Other opinions on this? Thanks. |

I would have no problem trusting that jack, but I also have the long reach low profile HF jack and for me it works better. It’s hard to get to the front center jack point with a normal jack unless you drive up on blocks first. The long reach one fixes this.

Would I use it? Yes.
But I have this one https://www.harborfreight.com/automo...een-64784.html My concern that would stop me would be safety, but I don't see that as an issue. If you are lifting correctly you aren't under the car when it's on the jack. I have doubts that if it failed that it would be catastrophic. More likely a slow leak where either it wouldn't lift or would keep coming down as you pumped. Kinda like if you didn't have it closed all the way. (I deserve some appreciation for keeping all the potential innuendos out of my response. It was hard! That's what she......damn) |

I used that jack for around 9 years before a seal blew out on me last month. I immediately went and got another. It's a great jack. It gets to the middle.point if you drive the car on some planks.

When it blew, what was the result? Was it in the air at the time?

I have the aluminum version and its very well built. Much better than the husky jack i have that has actually failed on me. The rapid pump is great too.
Their daytona line is also built in the same factory as snap on jacks that cost 3-4x as much Avoid the jack stands though

I was bored on the phone, stood on it, tried to raise it but it wasn't moving so I turned the handle and noticed it kept turning. I heard a "hiss" and saw hydraulic fluid on the floor. It was pretty uneventful.

My HF low profile jack has been fine for a couple years now. The only jack I've ever had fail was a year old Craftsman. I've never used a jack for anything else besides lifting and lowering, so the only one I had fail just refused to lift the vehicle since a seal blew out internally.

I had one of those for a long time. it lasted a decade, I never maintained it. it got wet. it got muddy.
that said, the daytona is a much nicer and more sturdy piece. but for $79, yeah, it's a good deal. |

HF jacks are rock solid I have 2 of their jacks (orange Daytona 3 ton low profile, and blue aluminum 1.5ton "racing") and both have been rock solid to date. Especially the Daytona is built like a tank and I have never second guesses using it to lift any of my vehicles.
Recently I even tested its limits when we used it to swap the struts on my buddy's Yukon XL 2500. Of course even that big truck had no issues with the jack. |
