Walnut Blasting in CT

**Update Below (Post #19)**

Inspired by the recent discount price walnut-blasting threads by NY/NJ/PA shops, this thread is basically a feeler to see if anyone out there in Connecticut (whether it's an experienced individual or a local shop) can offer their walnut blasting services at a decent rate?

Does anyone know of any places in CT that already do this?

I'm sure there's a bunch of us CT guys out there that would love to be able to drive less than 3-4 hours round trip to get this done for the $300-$500. Who's looking for this besides me?

And in case some shop/person who can do this is watching, sound off if you're in CT and would be willing to have this done à la "group buy" style.

$325-375 is a good price IMO... Don't pay anything more for a group buy.

I'd be in for this as well. Would prefer central/northern CT but really anywhere will work.

The shop that sponsors me, ACI dynamix was going to get the walnut blasting tools... I'll text him and see if he has them. If he does i'm sure he'd love to have a group buy type of thing

That's funny, since ACI Dynamix isn't too far from me I was just going to call Bryce tomorrow to see if it's something they'll do, but if you're sponsored I'll definitely defer that contact to you haha. Let us know what he says. Thanks man

I sent him a text a little while ago so i'll let you guys know when he responds. I know he's been pretty busy lately with a wedding and whatnot but I also know a few months ago he talked about getting the stuff to do walnut blasting. No idea if he has the stuff this yet but should know for sure soon

Just heard back. Bryce said he's been way too busy the last few weeks and hasn't looked into a machine yet but promises he will ASAP this week. Price he said will probably be around $350. I don't know if that will be if we can get 5 or more of you guys down one day or if its just going to be the normal walk in price

Just a Saturday morning bump to keep this visible in case anyone else shows interest or knows where we can get this done.

Oh and speaking of walnut blasting, I had mentioned it a few times in the past to my service advisor at my local dealership, but they never had the machine to do it. Well, he actually called me up a few days ago to let me know that they finally looked into it and got the BMW blasting tools and had already done a few cars with great results. ...and then he told me their current price was $1050 and they'd need the car for a good chunk of the day.

Wow...Obviously I appreciated the "I remember you were asking about it" call, it shows that they listen to their customers, but I figured I'd just share that price for a laugh.

Just another update (keepin' the dream alive):

I started calling some independent BMW shops around CT to see if they could do walnut blasting...yyyyea...

Northeast Motor Werks, Middletown: No.
Auto Technic, New Milford: No.
Fairfield County Motorsport: No.
European Performance Labs, Stratford: No.
Mini Haus, Westbrook: No.
European Specialists, Branford: No. (They will take off your intake header and manually scrub them though, for a hair lower than dealership prices).

The search will continue and I'll update this list for anyone that is interested enough to be following this.

Hahaha Bryce seriously doesn't realize what he's missing by waiting for the tools... I'll see him the weekend of the 8th since i'm going to bimmerstock with him and i'll make sure to bring it up.

I've been bugging Bryce quite a bit but he's just so busy. He actually just went away until next Thursday so Nick is managing the shop until then. He sponsors me and i've been trying to explain how much people in CT want a shop that does walnut blasting but he doesn't realize it... I'll bring it up again on the 8th or when I see him before that to swap out some injectors

UPDATE:

Hey guys, in my search for a solution, I've been talking back and forth with another CT member on here who has the tools and expertise to do walnut blasting on our intake valves! His name's Dave and his forum name is Juiced46.

He said he'd be happy to help out and that I could pass his name along to you guys. He's willing to do on the side for us and it looks like it can be for as good a price as you can find around. Thing is, he's pretty busy so its not something where a ton of us can meet and to a "group day" type of thing. I think he'd be able to do a couple cars at most on any given day that he'd have available.

He asked that if any of you are interested, to just PM him only and then you can work out on your own when you can meet with him individually according to his schedule.

I'm hoping to meet with him either this weekend (14th-15th) or the following, and he'll knock $50 off the price for each car if he can do two cars instead of one in the same day. If any of you guys are down to possibly meet with me this weekend and we can both get it done, pm me and let me know!

After you do yours, please post your experiences. I usually like having a shop do it, but am still interested.

OK guys. Dave is a knowledgeable, meticulous mechanic who loves his cars. You will not be disappointed if you let him do any work on your car. He is also very busy, so with a little patience you will get the work completed.
