2009 328xi coupe rear tire wear??

hey what's up.

haven't posted here in a while but curious others experience with excessive rear tire wear on similar setup.

bought my car feb 2014 used. all stock
It came on stock 17's with continental winter tires.

around June 2014 I picked up a set of KwV1 and set of 19" M3 replicas.

19x 8.5 front ET34
19x 9.5 rear ET34
225/35/19 front
265/30/19 rear.

I searched this tire/rim setup before purchase and is well within acceptable range and quite common.

19's went on first. and within a week got the coilovers installed.
on purpose waited about 2 weeks for the suspension to settle.
then went to get car aligned.

drove the rest of season all perfect to roughly late Oct 2014 and put winters back on. did not notice any unusual wear in the rear of 19s still looked nice and fresh.

drove the whole winter lowered on the 17's with relatively no issues.

I inquired if the car had to be aligned again if I was putting on the smaller 17s for winter. I was told no. since the suspension was not being touched.

first problem I noticed, in spring 2015 when I put the 19s back on
was that the rear winters were finished?? fronts still nice and chunky.
all 4 winters were practically brand new and the winter rears were toast now ??

so I found this quite odd how badly worn the rears were while fronts were still great?

so stored the winters away and put 19s back.
this was roughly early April 2015.

now we are mid August.
From April to now with 19s on I've done easy 6,000 kms.

I recently said to myself let's take a look at those rears.

low and behold I see the exact same issue as with the winters.
the 19" rears are already nearly finished???
while the fronts are still nearly perfect.
how is this possible?
in total since purchase the 19" rears have ~11,000km

air pressure good, car was aligned last year etc etc.

the drop is nothing crazy , pretty much flush front and rear
no rubing of any kind and the Kw's are amazing.

I'm not cornering or driving aggressive. just to/from work, errands etc.
and the rears have practically melted away already?

I've driven plenty of lowered cars over the years and never seen rears wear this fast?

anyways. all this to ask if this is common with xdrive cars or is this unusual?

much appreciate any feedback
thanks !!

Sounds like your rear alignment is off for whatever reason, either not done properly after KW install or something has changed. BTW rear suspension is the same RWD vs xdrive.

hi,

thanks for the reply..

thats what I was thinking.. I dont know what it could be.. that the rear alignment would have changed..

or perhaps indeed not done properly the first time when the kw were installed.

it literally ate through the rear 17" winters in matter of 5-6months..
and now the 19" rears in 5months..

i guess really the only first step is to get the rear alignment checked and adjusted if needed..

hopping this is the case..

any other feedback or others who experienced same issue, that turned out to be alignment issue, would be appreciated to hear from..

on my stock suspension, the fronts ALWAYS wear first. on the RWD cars since only the rears are putting power down they tend to go first. on the Xi cars, there is power to the front and more weight pushing them around, so i gotta imagine something is up with your rear alignment, but its strange you didnt see anything on the 19s when you took them off in october.
