Anything you buy used for that intake might be missing some hardware. I got everything I needed from the hardware store, but when I sold it, I added some extra gaskets and screws ordered from AFE.

I like the Euro intake as it is easier to install and a bit less resonance. They were on sale, but no longer at ECS Tuning. Sometimes these come up used as well.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Is the sound with the Euro intake noticeably different from stock?

I'd say it is similar to the AFE sound with less resonance. The AFE uses a plastic intake pipe to the throttle body which seems to resonate more, somewhat annoyingly. It is probably similar to the silicon intake tubes which some on this forum also mention as resonating. That hard plastic tube also makes the AFE difficult to install, but with a little juggling of the parts, liquid soap, and muscle, it can be done by one person.

The sub par build quality of the AFE does not help the install either. One of the bolts to attach the box to the car is too short and cannot be used, and the clearance to put a longer bolt in is not there due to the narrow "C" type space of the box in that spot. The OEM bolts fit better than what is in the kit, and are sufficient to hold it in place, where the box has clearance to fit them in.

The Euro box is a breeze to install. It fits well and is not much harder to install than changing a filter in the stock box.

With the Euro box, you get a removable cover to change the filter without having to remove the entire box as the stock one requires. AFE is similar. You also get a cone airfilter, similar to AFE, but which can be replaced with a cheaper and more efficient K&N filter. It also uses the stock intake tube from the box to the throttle body, so it is an easier install than the AFE. Plus, the stock tube used for the Eurobox is made out of hard rubber and seems to resonate less.

That being said, I still have some resonance from my Magnaflow catback exhaust and Eurobox intake, which is probably worse in a wagon than a sedan or coupe. I wish I had left the stock resonator on, but it is not too bad for me. It is enough to annoy my wife though. It is most noticable going up a steep hill in fifth at 50mph+ and trying to keep a constant speed.

I love the rumble when I start it up and the sound at WOT.

personally, I find the resonance of an intake/airbox a lot more pleasing than a loud, farty exhaust note. The silicone intake boot is perfect with the stock airbox IMO (yeah, it sucks to take out, but not enough to pay for a euro box IMO).

Get the EURO box and run it with no intake lid if you want really good sound. Lots of forum member has put the AFE on dyno, showed the AFE actually loses HP and Tq.

You are talking about the wrong aFe, no?

The closed box one does net minor figures.
