na he would be wasting time modding that car. when my 325i was stock est hp 218 it did a 15.2@ 92mph. alot of people say that is sloooww. He probably has a 2.0 n/a with alot less hp/torque, probably a mid 16 sec car, his car is slower than a slug.

Even with nitrous, the most he can probably run is a 50 shot because i dont think there is a way to back off ignition timing and who knows maybe a 50 shot could put it dangerously lean, he still wont be faster than a stock 325i n52.

you know theres probably a reason why that car never made it in the usa. could you imagine trying to merge on the highway with that thing? or climbing those step hills in west Virginia, Tennessee, the hills in the west are even more steeper. it would probably roll back down the hill.

i dont even think the OP knows he has a 4 cylinder posting in a n52 forum.

Ya, it's crazy expensive to have a car Singapore . They have multiple schemes to discourage car ownership.

COE, quota system
ARF, additional registration fees
High road tax, based on engine displacement
High gasoline taxes
Public transportation

COE, certificate of Entitlement. Is required to import any car. The government releasees a calculated number each month based on deregistered cars and allowable number of cars in the road. You bid for these in a quasi open tender system. I've seen the costs soar above $100,000. The COE is only valid for ten years. You can renew but you pay the prevailing rate.

ARF, additional registration fee. about 120% if the cars value. Straight tax but you get a portion of it back when you export or scrap your car. The value returned is based on the age of the car. Past ten years you get nothing returned.

High taxes, I paid about $1,500 a year for my 2.5 liter Lexus. A three liter car might be 2,500 a year. Graduating scale. When a car hits ten year of age the annual taxes increase by 10% a year until it hits 150%.

Gasoline. They typically pay about two dollars a gallon more then our national average.

FUUUUUUUCK.

THATS CRAZY.

If I am not mistaken, Singapore aims to be a very clean city though, am I correct? I can see why they'd discourage the "extra" emissions.... But good Lord that is insane...

And I forgot to mention ERP

Electronic Road Pricing. Main roads into the city and highways have a variable toll fee based on the time of day.

Actually those 4 bangers are not so bad. My dad had an E90 318i with a 2l 4 banger and 143hp. The 4 cylinder engine dont need high revs to come alive. Also it's helped by a 3.64 differential (3.91 for those with handicap gearbox).

I borrowed it for a week while my daily driver at the time (530dat with 245hp/550nm) had a breakdown and was surprised how drivable the car was with such a small engine.

Oh come on. If a 120hp Corolla can do it, so can a 4 banger E90.

And this is the Naturally Aspirated section, not the N52 section. It's just that most of us are from the US and so all we got were N52s.

According to the description it's the NA and turbo diesel section.
