That makes sense. So since my DEF tank is full (at least that's what the SA told me), it should be fine to continue driving?

I can't make my own thread because I'm a new member but, I just purchased a '11 335d. I drove it about 150 miles(all highway) home with no issue. Test drive fine, no foreseeable issues.
I since have had the car sitting(outside, upstate NY) for about a week. Started it the other day and the car idled fine for about 1-2 minutes and just shut off. No engine codes, no signs of anything funny with the electronics(cluster, idrive, etc). And now it will not restart. I thought it may have been gelled(less than 1/4 tank, below 10 degrees at night + wind chill) so I pushed it in the garage, cranked the heat, threw some 9-1-1 in the tank and let it sit. No luck. Here is a video of what it is doing. |

It stops on its own. Cranks like it does in the video then stops unless I let off the button and try again.
Battery is good, I had it on a charger over night because it was a little low when it was outside. Wouldn't even crank. |

Try key in, foot on brake and one touch the button. should not have to hold it to start. Just to see what it does

Scan the car for any stored codes. Also, you can check your fuses and also ensure your DDE connections are all secure, just in case they were previously messed with.

It does have a couple stored codes but nothing that I would think would cause this. They come up as "permanent", one is a glow plug cyl 6 and the other I can't remember off the top of my head. |

Give Jess a call at Bohl diesel. He's a busy guy and I have had tough time getting in touch with him, but a very well respected wizard around the 335D and diesels in general. He may be able to help you out since you are likely local to his shop.

I had this 3 yrs ago. Was at dealer for 3 weeks. They threw parts at it but never found confirmed cause.
It did come BACK with a momentary code for RPM crankshaft sensor. (Was not present when it went in). But they may have messed with that during troubleshooting |

pull your back seat, and jump the low pressure pump, see if it kicks on
There is a write up for it in the Dont fear the fuel filter thread. I would also just grab a fuel filter and toss it in, cheap insurance and pretty simple to do. |
