Thanks to cn555ic help tonight remote configuring my laptop with all the correct files and walking me step-by-step through the flashing process which can be stressful. Yes my cable does work. Thanks again!

Finally got it to work! Don't ask me how I did it, but everything works and I flashed the trans last night. It feels like a totally different car now! Can't believe what I was missing.

Got it done 2 weeks ago or so. Thanks for the DIY, OP!
Car shifts a lot quicker and sooner while in D. Shifts into 6th gear around 40MPH now lol. I don't mind as I don't have a lead foot anyway. |

what version of INPA is required to use this? What constitutes "newer" for cars that might have paddle problems?

Just flashed on my 2008 BMW with paddle shifters and the paddles worked fine off the bat. I think the car was produced on 03/2008. One thing I would like to point out is to make sure to check which COM the cable connects to. I was getting Error 200. My cable connected to COM4 so I had to change the obd.ini file to port=COM4 instead of COM1 and copy this file to C:/Windows. Then I was able to flash. You can check which COM the cable uses by right clicking computer > manage > device manager > ports. Also I installed WinKFP using Windows 7. You just have to right click on step1 > troubleshoot compatibility.
Can anyone comment on how long it takes for TCU to adapt? I drove it around for 5 minutes slowly in D mode and noticed some slip. Then another 15 minutes going between D, DS, and M mode. I am using JB4 map 5. I think the transmission is adapting, but still occasional slip or rough shifting. Should the TCU adaptation be reset? Also, does 50.2 Daten contain a newer version of the Alpina TCU flash or is it the same as posted by cn555ic 49 Daten? Thanks cn555ic for helping all of us!

You drove around in D mode and noticed slip? Are you sure that's what you felt and not the transmission rowing through the gears? You should definitely not feel any type if slip in D mode.

Not sure if everyone agrees with this, but I would think it would be smart to always reset TCU adaptations after doing the flash (thru INPA, not the gas pedal trick).

**B)The car starts but then when you drive off, the shifting of gears are all screwy and changing incorrectly. I think it is changing correctly in D mode except there was some adaptation in the beginning. How do you reset TCU adaptations via INPA and how is it different from pressing the gas pedal trick? Is it worth doing so now that I've driven it around for about 100 miles? I think that the adaptation is for wear over time and so resetting the TCU adaptions on a worn transmission may not be good. cn555ic, do you recommend doing this? Are there different versions of the Alpina B3 TCU flash depending on the daten files? Update: the shifts in manual mode are faster now then when I first flashed... the transmission seems to be adapting or the JB4 map 5 is adapting to the new flash.

I have been wondering the same thing that if the daten versions have different versions of the flash. I used daten 50.2. Also is it normal for the alpina flash to be slightly rough and harsh when shifting 1-2, and 2-3 @ wide open throttle while building boost around 4k? I can feel the clutch disengage and re-engaged fast and it feels like double clutching in a manual or if someone mashed the clutch pedal switched gears and dumped the clutch fast while revving. Because when I shift I can feel the bam disengaged and then a slight second while its engaging into the next gear. It feels like it might be a slight slip or a slight delay because of how sporty it feels harsh.

The flash is the same across DATEN versions because the zb number is the same. If the flash was different the zb number would also be different.

Here is a datalog with JB4 to illustrated the change between 2nd and 3rd to see if it shows any issues. I do see a weird spike in rpms.
It only does it when making boost.
