I'm having issues with my dealer here in Tennessee and having to get BMWNA involved to get a loaner...

I just wanna park my car in the garage with the blower and/or battery unplugged till it's ready to be fixed.

Can this still catch fire when the plug is unplugged? Should I also unplug the battery if it is just sitting?

Also, are these loaners paid by BMW or by our insurance?
The people at the Hertz rental car were super nice. I called back the day after I got it and asked if they had anything else because I wasn't really a fan of the Fusion. They were going to put me in a Sonata but they mentioned that they could put me in a Camaro instead, which I obviously took. I was super polite on the phone about it and not one of those complaining customers that are super annoying. They were going to upgrade me up a class when I first came but the Q50 that they were going to give me got taken.

Also, the loaners are covered by BMW but idk about the insurance. The hertz lady said BMW covered insurance but the dealership said they didn't.

That's not good. Who is supposed to bear the cost? I mean, BMW NA or dealer can't let you lingering on it .

Yea, I'll have to ask the owner next time I see him.

Brought my E90 in to the closest dealership to speak with a service advisor. Came in and said I had questions regarding the recall, and what my options are regarding alternate transportation such as a loaner or a rental because I don’t feel safe driving it since I’ve smelled burning occasionally as I drive everyday. Service advisor proceeded to tell me to open my hood and showed me that I have a small VCG and OFHG leak and that’s what is causing the burning smell. When I asked about the recall for the blower motor I was told I have to wait until the 2nd letter comes in. Basically I’m coming in concerned about a recall, and I’m being told something I already know about my car, and completely ignoring the fact that my car is under a recall. Funny thing is outside in the parking lot behind the service center it was LINED with a mix of pre lci/LCI E90s. Maybe they turned me away because of my age? Feeling kind of bummed out, but I guess I still get to drive my car.

My socket is discolored too, but no bare wires. Guess I will check in with the dealer!

Probably have the same experience as Topgear Joe though.

Doesn't sound related to the blower motor if the engine caught on fire... sounds more like fuel supply/return leak. Clearly the car was heavily modified at that HP, BMW probably doesn't have a lot of liability there.

Got a Kia Soul (my other option was a Versa), was promised a full size car. Going to call enterprise and see if they have anything better.

Get the BMW NA FAQ that says if you "feel nervous" driving the car go to your local BMW dealer. Tell them you don't feel safe driving it as you drive puppies and children in it. Speak with the service manager. They literally have a form to fill out around this.

Initially spoke with a SA, she flat out refused to fess up a loaner and spoke like she had never heard of the process or paperwork.

Later that day, drove my car to Grayson and asked to speak with the Service Manager. He right away grabbed the waiver to store at my house and asked when I could come back to get a car from Enterprise. No hassle what so ever at that point.

Now I have a Nissan Rogue to drive until God knows when, lol.

Thanks for sharing, do you remember the service manager's name? Grayson always insists that you work with the same service writer and mine wasn't good.

When my car was still under warranty ever time I would take it to Grayson for a repair I would come away with new damage.

Passenger seat pressure sensor = destroyed plastic door trim and a paint scratches in the door frame.

Serpentine belt tensioner = grinding the lower front valance on a curb.

But at least they made the process fun by not making me aware of the new damage when I would pick up the car and I would get to play scavenger hunt.

Honestly, I can't remember his name. I just drove to Grayson and asked to speak with the Service Manager. As soon as I started to explain what I was there for, he immediately grabbed the waiver for me to fill out and sign. Then asked when I could come back for the rental.

It was seriously no hassle at that point. Enterprise showed up with the car within 10 minutes after I came to pick up.

I might go back another week and try my luck once again. Maybe they won’t care that I’m 20? If this dealership doesn’t work out I’m going to try another dealerships that’s 20 minutes away.
