Might need new turbos: recommendations?

So I'm starting to get the "turbo siren" sound from 700-2000 RPM and I'm preparing for the worst... dead turbos.

If I need to buy new turbos, I think I want to keep it as stock as possible so everything is just plug and play.

Just a couple of questions:

1) Where does one get OEM turbos from?

2) Are Vargas turbos basically OEM turbos with newer style waste gates?

Thanks!

You can get OEM turbos from any place that sells BMW parts - like getbmwparts, ecstuning, your dealer, etc.

The aftermarket turbos usually have bigger turbo wheels etc. They are still "plug and play" - otherwise they wouldn't fit - think about it! I have the Pure Turbo stage 1 and it is "plug and play" as it is an OEM (Borg Warner) turbo, just with a bigger wheel. If the price difference isn't significant, you really should consider getting an aftermarket turbo.

And as noted, you have posted in the wrong section as you have a N54 engine. Perhaps educating yourself about your engine and your options should be your first priority.

Get bmw parts foe oem. $1,800 about, then $2,000 labor for oem. Stealer is $5,500. Vargas uses a similar housing or stock housing but different internals and waste gates. Better stuff more power.
