Does your other half complain about car spending?

Just wondering if anybody else gets any flack from the missus for spending money on your car?

For me it's a bit of a hobby, enjoying spending a bit and maintaining a nice looking motor.

I get a few raised eyebrows if I buy something e.g performance exhaust recently because apparently "there's nothing wrong with the exhaust I have".

Perhaps they just don't understand.

Being a petrolhead eh!

They don't understand our logic and we don't understand theirs.

Yes, whats wrong with your exhaust? A light difference in tone and loudness will make you what? It will still be the same car.....and you will still be same lad!
Thats how ladies think!

Well I will have a better tone and sound.... which pleases me! Its like a horny bitch sucking your xxxxx and making horny sound! Same goes with the performance exhaust note!

Now wtf you will do with additional 20 pairs of high heel? Thats what you think!

She thinks that she has not got purplish light shade of parrot green heels especially 4 inch long? A good reason to buy another 15 pairs of heels till she get perfect colour combo!

And this is never ending saga.....

I don't allow my miswa to look at my bank statements and I don't look at hers! Keep it simples. You don't save much that way but you live a peaceful life!

Yep agreed, mortgage and bills are of course priority, but car comes after those with tweaks and maintenance!

Just Wondering, Just Wondering,,,

She wonders every day weather I have bits being delivered,
Do I need to wait In for the post man etc etc is all I get,

I have over come that issue and it all gets sent to my work address now so what she cant see wont hurt her. But on the UP side, The wife lets me get on with it as long as there is food on the table and the bills are paid.

Nope. I don't spend much on my car.

In always keep them clean and maintained well. I never go over the top though.

I can see why some people do get nagged though. Some people really should be able to see for themselves though.

On a few sites for new BMWs and AMG Mercedes some of the most discussed topics is finance. It's really hit me the mess people are getting in with huge debts to get cars.

Not particularly.

As long as the bills are paid if I choose to buy something for the car then it's up to me. I don't believe in joint accounts so I buy what I want with my money & she does the same.

If it's a big purchase I actually prefer her input, nothing worse than man maths.

Luckily she's fairly in to her cars too so she appreciates most of my purchases.

Mines pretty good, although I do get the occasional raised eyebrow.
She's always known I was into cars though, in fact it was giving her a lift home in my e34 M5 when we first met that helped seal the deal

More than anything, I get aggro over the amount of time I spend on it - especially cleaning / detailing.

I have had to promise now though, that I won't mod the M3, as really it doesn't need any modding.

Heard her on the phone to her friend the other day, she was saying that now we have the M, she has the best of both worlds... her own 325d that costs next to nothing to run, and she gets to play with the M3 and contribute nothing towards it... win win for her, I guess!!

My other half really doesn't care that much about the finances. I had my cars before i met her and she gets to drive the X5 so she can't complain.

But where she does moan is about the amount of time i spend on them. So rather than finishing off my 306 myself i've put it into a garage to have them do some work that i would have liked to have done (i.e learned and done it myself for sense of self-achievement). With my ex - it was a great excuse to get away from her which i think i once mentioned - very stupidly.....so it's all about spending time together - mostly just sitting on the couch with a take-away or something mundane like that.

My wife is used to it as I've been modding my cars for over 20years now. I do get the odd look of why do you feel the need to do things but then secretly my wife really likes how my cars turn out.
She now drives my X5 which is highly modded too and loves the exhaust note etc so it's all good.

Like others have said as long as the important stuff is done before the car then all good.

That's what I told myself and my wife when I bought the M5. Didn't last long

I hear it all the time. But I would usually bring up her $1k+ bags/shoes and see if she can justify those purchases as well.
