So does anyone know what the correct size barbed fitting is for that line?

Did the 6mm work? I am seeing options for a 4 AN barb but not sure if thats right. If this gets figures out it'd be neat for someone to make a bunch. I would be interested in buying one, or if its more cost effective to just make my own ill do that

The 6mm worked for me. It's not a tight fit but the clamp holds it tight and no leaking so far.

Next size up was 8mm and that might work as well for a tighter fit but won't know for sure until someone tries it.

I think some people might still want to do this mod/upgrade. I've found a combination that fits perfectly.
The fitting is a 5/16 inch barb with a -6an thread. The barb forms a very nice tight fit with the rubber pipe.
Given how tight the 5/16 inch barb fits, I really don't think a 3/8 inch barb would fit. 5/16 inch barb fittings are less common. I found them for an ok price on ebay. They were quite pricey on Jegs and Summitracing
I'm pairings this with a standard 12 inch braided -6an hose. I'll probably get 5/8 inch (0.625 inch) fuel line clamps.

This is the fitting that I bought.
5/16 barb to -6an threads. $7.99 each

A -6an hose with -6an fittings is super easy to find. I might get it from Jegs or Summitracing.
Such as this one : https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...8500/overview/

My setup is slightly different. I used a 9mm OD stainless steel tube (used in refrigeration). Cut it 14" long and flared the ends. Pics below of that tubing which is a hair thicker than then the MacDonald straw.

I made this hose this past weekend. Have not had any issues with it at all. I got all the parts from Summit Racing. The hose is 12" long and all the fittings are -6AN. Here is a list of part numbers if you want to duplicate it.

NXO-00-20750 1ea Nitrous Outlet -6AN 12" hose
SUM-220632B 2ea Summit Racing -6AN male to male coupler
SUM-220769B 2ea Summit Racing -6AN female to 5/16" barb fitting

Did you have to buy hose clamps or just use the old ones?

I bought the new hose and while holding open the clamp with pliers, the old hose wouldn't budge. Do I need to grease it?

I used a 5/16 x 20" premade brake line ($7.00). The ends are already flared and fit perfectly into the rubber hose after cutting out the plastic tube and its fittings. The brake line clips on the stock clips that the plastic one fit. Used hose clamps on either end.

I had a blown upper radiator hose and from replacing it, found that the plastic tube was on its last legs. Rotted.

Super cheap, super easy...
