Checked on ECS Tuning and found the following for $333? Is the brembo rotors/pads better than the Zimmermann/Akebono/Bowa set?

The brembo Includes the following parts:

Front and rear Brembo coated rotors
Front and rear Brembo pads
Front and rear pad wear sensor
ECS stainless steel rotor set screws
4 AGS Syl-Glide Silicone Brake lubricant packets

Also the Zimmermann/Akebono brake kit sells in FCPEuro for $427.
Do I need to buy the brake fluid separately?

Which kit is better in the long run?

I was told by a reputable mechanic that brake fluid only needs to be changed when changing brake lines, I still may get my fluid changed though.

Also, for the rear brembo rotors which were $85 usd for two, the same exact ones on GermanParts.ca were $100 each side. Same as front I think $100 each side, or a bit more.

Either way, I will usually sway between sites such as ecs, German parts, etc to price match and then go from there. For the most part ecs is much cheaper and more options, just add the taxes and shipping etc but you still manage to save a good chunk of cash still!

Reputable? You may want to research that. Brake fluid loves water, its attracted to it. Water causes corrosion and lowers the boiling point. Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years or so.

Is it better to buy from fcp euro since its lifetime warranty. Or better to buy from ecs cuz its cheaper initially but no warranty? HMMMMMMM

Brakes rotors are not to much of a deal on FCP since you will have to pay shipping back.. And if you havent mailed anything lately the prices are thru the roof.. I could ship the same thing two years ago for twenty dollars.. Now thirty five.. This is the same reason i dont get oil thru there.. You really have to consider the size and weight when buying thru FCP.

FCP Euro (the one with the free lifetime replacement even on wear and tear parts) has 5-10%. Probably one of the only sales they hold per year. They have a BMW Brake Kit - Zimmermann/Akebono 34116854998KTFR6 with pads, rotors, and sensors for $385.96 all sides. Take 10% out of that which comes to be a great deal. Especially when you want to replace the parts every few years.

I have Pagid pads and rotors right now. I have used Zimmermann rotors too, they are good aftermarket rotors. Find Pagids on Rockauto. There are 5% off codes around, search on the web. I flush the brake fluid every 2 years.

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...hub,rotor,1896

PAGID 355011801 rear pad set $32.79
PAGID 355011321 front pad set $36.79
ÜRO PARTS 34356789445 rear right sensor $6.61
ÜRO PARTS 34356789439 front left sensor $6.86
PAGID 355111962 rear rotor $44.79
PAGID 355122762 front rotor $50.99

Total before shipping: $274.61

LOL. I do not think a reputable mechanic would say anything other than 2 years, especially a Euro mechanic.

have had brembo blanks on my wife's volvo for 5 years.

they are equal to OE quality. As you'd expect from a big name reputable brake parts manufacturer.

I saw the following in FCP Euro for $385 after an additional 10% discount for my 06 330i. The part number is 34216855004KTFR2. And I assume I need minimum 3 12 OZ bottles of brake fluid right? Is this correct? Do I need to buy anything else along with this for the brake replacement?

Oh I thought the $385 was before the 10%. Anyways, I'm assuming you are choosing the replace brake fluid as well. There are a ton of videos online on what you need, but If I remember correctly, you need a bit more than a liter to flush and refill, and to make your life easier, the brake fluid pump ($35-50) plus common tools. FCP does have the Dot 4 fluid on sale too, with lifetime replacement 💪

OP should read up on reviews of Akebonos. There are many complaints of weak initial bite, which is a reason I stayed away from it.

The Pagids are European Regulation 90 certified. Just from hearing the complaints I would say the Akebonos are not R90 for these applications.

I run the Akebonos pads with the Zimmermann rotors and have no complaints.. I didnt notice any stopping reduction but I aslo don't drive on my brakes. Car stops dam well when I need it to. I drive a daily so take that into consideration.

You also have to consider these reviews of lost braking. There is no proof behind it, its all seat of the pants feel from what I read. This is in contrast to the other way, acceleration, we want proof and peoples seat of the pants feel has little weight.

I would love a test where a stopping distance was done to see this loss, but I only could wish. It really wouldn't matter to me, I don't see any problems with the Akebonos but then again this is a seat of my pants assement.

Yeah, thats what bummed me out about returning my rotors after I thought about how heavy they are and the cost of shipping. Returning used pads though shouldn't be an issue, shipping should be relatively cheap.

I do return my oil to FCP though, only costs me about $16 for 10L of oil, an oil additive and the filter using UPS (interestingly, UPS was cheaper than USPS). But thats largely dependent on the distance from their warehouse. Shipping it from MD to CT probably goes by truck and not air, hence the lower cost. I'm quite lucky on that, because shipping rates as you said are just absurd right now, especially international
