330D lacking power/torque

Hi,

I'm currently trying to figure out whats wrong with my 330D. It seems to be lacking some grunt especially on lower revs as it still pulls up to speed just not as good as it used to be.

The car is a 2006 E91 330D M57TU2 and has about 100k Miles on the clock I've had a look at the turbo VNT which is electrical and whilst reeving the car I can see it moving ever so little not sure is this is correct or if it should move like 1cm or more?

I'm also not sure if the MAF has ever been replaced so I was wondering if you guys have any tips I've ordered a diagnostic cable and hopefully I can check the MAF readings and boost pressure with this.

The car has otherwise no issues just seems to be a bit more hesitant than it used to be swirl flaps are still in place but will be blanked off in a couple of days.

Any tips what to look out for would be appreciated.

Not a lot of experience with a 330d here as we never got it in North America. May be some Euro folks will chime in. Better ask a question on some local forums. But the usual suspects are boost leaks, MAF/MAP sensors and VNT control system.

Hi there
I had a E46 330d where the VNT didn’t work due to a vacuum issue.
When it happened the car went into limp mode and set a fault code in the ECU.
So if that’s the problem you will see it in the diagnose.
How does it run in idle?

Idle is okay when you start it up initially it sometimes runs rough for a couple of seconds in terms of the rpm which I reckon is due to a dirty EGR. Otherwise starting it up with no issues fires immediately.

I'm still waiting for the diagnose cable though hopefully this will show me some codes.

Hi
I had the problem on my car and it was the egr capsule. my car is egr off and dpf off but the egr stay open partially. You need to read map values (expected and actual).

Found one error in the ECU about the glowplug on cylinder 1 seems like that one is on the way out still need to check MAF readings though I'll give the EGR a clean later tomorrow

I've cleaned out the EGR removed the swirl flaps and replace the vacuum lines as they weren't the best anymore power delivery improved slightly but still feels a bit sluggish.

Any recommendations how to properly check the MAF?
