X pipe in this location

What happens if I put a X pipe right before the resonator? Does a Xpipe change the sound of it and what tone does a Xpipe bring out? Will i get benefit with scavenging or a more higher pitch tone?

I believe that the factory resonator already has a crossover (either H- or X-pipe equivalent), so I doubt adding another one upstream of that would really do anything.

A popular part of the "PE Mod" is replacing the resonator with an x-pipe - I've done this (in addition to sleeving of the perforated inner-muffler pipes as well as catless DPs) and absolutely love the sound.

EDIT: Just realized this is not for a 335i - not sure if any of this still applies, but I'll leave it here ...

An X-pipe will pretty much do nothing; The factory resonator is a Y due to it being a 2-1 collector basically.

That being said if you added a X-pipe it'll likely make the system quieter due to the reduction of exhaust velocity and any tone change wont be noticed as it'll be too quiet

It will not help with that at all. If you have a muffler delete and want it quieter; then you need to add a muffler(doesn't have to be stock)

You know what would be a huge help here? A muffler
