Misfire disappeared
My car misfired on the way home from work yesterday, I pulled over and scanned the codes and it was cylinder 4. Thought it may be my coils since i had changed my plugs ~4k miles ago and idk if the coils were ever changed by the previous owners, so I swapped the coils from cylinder 3 and 4. Took it for ~20-minute drive on the freeway and street and the misfire did not occur. Any idea what the issue could have been? I have a 2hr trip coming up in a couple of days and don't want to risk the misfire coming back on the drive there.

It's more than likely the coil packs. Change them. If they are going out the they will have spotty misfires.
Literally had the same thing happen to me the other day on my car. Cylinder 1 had a misfire, next day no issues. Change them because I guarantee you on that 2 hour trip, that Coil pack will be shot. When one goes, it's a good sign that the rest of them aren't far behind. |

In my experience N55's rarely have injector issues but they often have misfires. I would change the plugs again with dealer plugs or NGK's gapped correctly. My friend with an N55 and I have both put brand new plugs in (Bosch) and had immediate misfires. Of course it could be injectors, carbon buildup, coils, etc. but that's where I would start.

That would be the next step. And get the right plugs. OEM pregapped. Super important. If it's not the plugs, then it's the fuel injector since you already did compression test. |

Im going thru kind of the same thing
I have a n55 335i with these codes 2BC0 fuel-air mixture too lean 2FAB ignition, cylinder 4 combustion period too short 2EFE combustion misfires several cylinders detected 2F02 combustion misfire cylinder 4 detected 2EE0 misfire, several cylinders: fuel injection deactivation 2EED misfire cylinder 4: fuel injection deactivation 2774 air mass plausibility air mass too high The car us on mhd stage 2 plugs and coils have less than a 2k miles on them Colder plugs and upgraded coils Would it he the injectors? I didnt go with a really known coils brand its called trq coils but the car’s boost target is around 16.1 and its only going up to 8-9 psi with no engine lights not limp mode |
