The blower motor goes all the time on these cars, regardless of filter.

my car is now dead on the parking lot, can't get the engine start with long crank, is this likely to be hpfp failure?
i am not sure because no indicator before the hpfp fully dead suddenly that i cant even start the engine. only thing that i might think of is 2 days ago, the car has 1-2 sec crank before the engine start, but its a cold morning, which seems usually to me, and the drive feels normal and now suddenly all dead. |

well well..unfortunately this is not a problem only for the n54 engines..I've just had my n53 HPFP replaced under warranty..again..in 2009 the car was called in to get the revised fuel pump fitted. and then for last 2months went into limp mode and the HPFP required change again..just my luck..

No, unfortunately that's not the case. People are still reporting failures even with the newest part numbers and software. However, the failure rate **MAY** be reduced, in part because of how the new software updates manage the pump. But BMW doesn't release the data, so it's impossible to confirm. |

Just bought my e93 335 US version but bought in Costa Rica. The car, as far as I know hasn't had the HPFP replaced. Here we have 1 dealer that oversees the country and it was recently replaced.
I got the car a week ago and I'm talking to the guy in charge to see if they'll honor the factory replacement. Will keep you posted! This thread has been lots of help when the guy tried to give me the runaround... should've take a picture of his face when I recited some of the info learned here! lol |

I took my car to the dealer to replace my 2nd fuel pump this year following the recall I did earlier this year (so a total of 3 fuel pumps within 9 months). Advisor called and told me my car was finished, but 3 hours later, he calls back and tell me they discovered the car is draining battery. They have to keep it again overnight to find out the problem. This car is way too troublesome. Sigh

is this an HPFP failure (again) or some other problem
2007 335xi
I started to get longer cranks while starting the car yesterday and today. While driving home tonight the car felt like it was going to stall while stoppped at a red light. Was close to home so only had to drive about 1 more minute and went slow. Turned engine off and restarted (a bit of a slow crank) and then drove it around the block, the Service Engine Soon (SES) came on but NOT the 1/2 engine light (malfunction engine light). I parked the car and will take it to the dealer tomorrow. With only the SES light on should I risk driving it to the dealership (about 20km) or get it towed ? Do the above symptoms indicate that it is a HPFP failure or something else ? (I've already had the HPFP replaced twice - in April 2009 and Feb 2011 and the turbo injectors have been replaced in May 2011). Thanks. |

On my newly purchased CPO 08 335i I reviewed the service records and see that the HPFP has never been replaced. The car has 28,000 miles now. With regard to the recall, is the consensus that if it is working now, leave it alone or should I get it replaced preemptively one week when I am home instead of when I'm on the road for work? I usually travel for work one week and then in the office for the next week so scheduling would be easy.

Looks like this topic is officially dead, look at the infrequent posts. Good job BMW. I never had this issue to begin with, but was forced to get a new hpfp under the recall (well remanuf) back in August. Sure enough, nothing happened, besides them not putting the wiring loom back where it was.

So, I recently read in Bimmer magazine that the HPFP issue was resolved with BMW's latest recall/replacement fuel pump. Does everyone pretty much agree with this "verdict"? And would those of you who have had the problem reccomend that everyone get their fuel pumps replaced under warranty whether they have experienced problems or not?
I don't have a 335i but I am in the market for one and if this issue is resolved I would make my decision to purchase one a lot easier!
