System Upgrade Idea's
Hi Guys,
I need to upgrade the base system (with no BT or Idrive) in my Bmw on a budget and wanted to get an opinion on a couple of system idea's. I want to keep the Professional stereo to keep the oem look and I have the following items already from a previous install : Vibe Matrix Delta Box Loc Vibe Line Driver Vibe Slick4 Coaxials (Rear Fill, Already Installed) Vibe Blackair Va12V3 12" Sub (Thinking maybe IB instead of custom box) A couple of rolls of DeadQuiet. Vibe Slick 4channel Amp 4x75w Rms I was thinking of a couple of options for the front : Hertz Energy Line Components Ground Zero Radioactive Underseat Subs OR MBQuart Bmw Package (Front Comps and Underseat Subs) Any help, advice or alternative options you guys can give will be greatly appreciated. Gaz Ps, I know I will need the headunit coded, which has been factored into my budget. |

If the Vibe Slick is the one I'm thinking of with the Hi/Low switch on the end and the fan on top, and you are recoding, please don't use an LOC. Buy a short set of twisted-par RCAs and hack them.
There is no MB Quart BMW kit in the states, so I don't know what you mean there. Ground Zero doesn't have an importer any more either, and I never saw anything from them that fit there. That is a lousy sub location and you need midbass from them. Lots of threads on that. |

Thanks for the reply VP.
The Vibe amp is a class D amp, it don't have a fan on the top so may not be the one you are thinking of. I have been thinking about doing a fibreglass side enclosure rather than the IB sub but I've heard a lot about not getting the sub's sound into the cabin. Is it better to hack the Rca rather than use a LOC? Am I right in saying that a good quality sub in the boot will pick up on the lower frequencies that the underseat woofers won't and work to compliment each other. Sorry for all the questions, I just don't wanna throw any money into the wrong products. Gaz |

Don't conflate E46 or E36 with E90. E90 trunks are more like Hondas.
Most passive LOCs have poor frequency response and pick up EMI. If it's the active LOC, then it might work fine. I'd rather use an amp with balanced ins and not have to use another part. Don't be sorry for the questions! Be sorry for not searching |

So....
Ive bit the bullet and ordered the following : Rainbow DLC4.2 Components Ground Zero 8" GZMW200NEO Underseat subs. I have done it on a budget and would have prefered the Earthquake subs upfront but didnt have the budget for them. I will post some pictures up when I start the installation this weekend. Thanks for the help once again. |
