Power washing incident: right through clear coat and paint
I was power washing my wheels, knowing I shouldn't wash any part of my car with paint on it with my 2200 psi power washer. But it became increasingly tempting as I was washing my wheels. So I started to power wash my headlights and then I noticed a small spot on the right side of my front bumper. I took the power washer to it and next thing I know this happens (see pictures)
Anyone know if there is a cheap fix for this? It's not huge but even from a distance it's very obvious. I really take good care of my 06' 325xi, but I unfortunately got carries away with the damn power washer and ended up with this... Any help would be awesome, thanks in advance! |

Wow you shouldn't powerwash your wheels either...at this point you've probably stripped all the clear off. For the bumper you can't really do much other than touch it up with some paint. Not really worth repainting the entire bumper

Wow! Not good. I doubt touch up paint will work. The blemish is too large and you probably loosened the paint surrounding the blemish also. You will probably need to get that spot repainted.

I would try touching it up first. It's low enough that nobody is really going to notice and if you don't like it, you're only out a couple of lunches.

That paint was already peeling, the washer just broke up what was already loose. |

regards to touchup. well its very difficult to get silver metallic to sit correct even spraying it. non the less brushing it. just remember to do lite coats. this will prevent running down the bumper. |

Thanks for the responses...the dealership used some touch up paint on it and didn't charge me a dime! I still have to buff it and then apply clear coat, but it's a nice temporary fix that I didn't have to pay for!
