I will ‘go in with the bayonet’ if I consider any of the above slandered!

So ‘Master Gunner’ please get your Avatar sorted!
At a push I can still do 25 pull ups. So watch out!
Do you think anyone on a BMW forum gives a damn ? That's what it comes down to.

I've got nothing against anyone in the Army - but honestly, your attitude is ridiculous and out of touch with reality.

I'm gonna come down on this bang in the middle really. I don't have any probs with the Avatar and I have a VERY good mate who is a rtd Sgt Mjr and was in the SAS as well as the personal guard of Sir Mike Jackson. He wouldn't take offence.

However, people are being a bit strong with Carjack. I haven't seen him degrade himself with language etc or be in any way especially derogatory of MG (or anyone else) in defence of his views.

Hence, I'd suggest we all chill and take a moment to consider that just maybe, from his POV, the avatar/comment combo was offensive.

Not like me to be the voice of reason, but I do call it as I f**king well see it!!

I agree with Matt that Carjack has been courteous throughout but it's precisely because of inter-service rivalry he should be able to see the funny side. Try being in the RAF, for f*cks sake.

I see Carjacks point of view but he must be the most sensitive ex-special forces member I've come across.

Avatar stays as already stated but I have changed the text (how's your latin) and your last line is a contradiction in terms is it not.

Just my opinion of course.

Spot on with translation however nowadays the 'Gunners' take it to read:
* Ubique (Everywhere)
* Quo Fas et Gloria Ducunt (Where Right and Glory Lead)

You'll find this on a gunner cap badge.

BTW, I can't believe I've ended up talking military terminology on a BMW forum; but at least it's all for a good cause.

Cheers

Thanks 'Master Gunner' for making the change you have!
It is a still pity that your Avatar is not changing. It takes the mickey out of the Guards to a world wide audience and that cannot be right.

However, I would like to say many thanks indeed those posts who have given me some support.

To those who disagree with me and like the Avatar, also, to those Chavvy types who rave and swear and say 'what the b...... hell etc'. I just feel very sorry for, also, that you are not more aware of the excellent job the Guards do for this Country and you give them no support. Sad.

I'm fully aware of the excellent job they, and other service men and women, do for the country and I always give them support, especially coming from a military family as I do. I simply do not agree that the avatar in any way diminishes that or "takes the mickey". I fail to see why humour cannot be used in this or any other scenarios.

You feel it belittles the Guards; I do not.

The picture in question is a stock avatar on this site, you should contact the site owners and voice your displeasure Carjack.

As Will says contact the site owners re. the avatar.

Again, your opinion is your opinion but don't try and tell people what to do. This is not the army, nor is it a site read by every one in existence with access to the internet (to state the obvious).

How do you actually know what peoples knowledge of the Guards is? Very sweeping generalisations. So by not having the avatar, that gives them support?

Blimey, so much guilt going on.

You need a long chat with someone imo. Too many unresolved issues.

It is just a picture. You do realise that don't you?

Any negative connotations exist only in your imagination.
