Finally got round to it.
I bought a set of bilstein shocks and H&R springs off Adam from this forum last year. My tame MOT tester let me use his 4 poster yesterday. 7 hours of swearing and spilt blood later I drove home in a completely different feeling car! I’d say the springs were not original but the shocks probably were and after 148,000 miles were completely shot! So much so I could compress them fairly easily and they didn’t rebound a cm!
So here’s a picture of my crappy old 330d which I’m still in love with even after 3 years! I don’t know why I’m ‘wasting’ my money on it but it’s been such a great car I can’t part with it and am even now planning on replacing all the suspension bushes this year! Anyway, here it is washed for the first time in months! No, it’s not black, it’s Monaco blue |

Thanks mate. The ride is firmer than before as expected. There’s is a lot more feedback and sharper steering. The rear feels more stable under hard acceleration but I do still plan to replace joints and bushes this year.
In summary, a very worthwhile upgrade although new oem would have made me as happy. I wouldn’t want the ride any firmer though. |
