N52 stumbling / engine dies
Hello everyone,
I've recently picked up a 2006 330i with north of 200,000 KM's on the clock. I am in the process of setting up what maintenance I want to do but would appreciate some input on one issue the car has. When I first start the car, it stumbles for a second or two, and then smooths out. When driving at lower speeds (say 30 KM/Hr) and I try to accelerate, it can stumble quite badly. If I do not let up on the pedal it feels as if the engine will die. Sitting at idle in park if I floor it, I can easily kill the engine. Right now I do not have the ability to pull codes, but I will soon (using Torque). To me this sounds like a vacuum leak, whcih I will look for within the next day or two. If this was an E46 I'd be going after the intake boots.... Does the E90 have the same issue, or would it be best for me to look elsewhere for the leak, or is there something else I should be looking at? Thank you for your help, Scott |

Thank you ny325. Plugs will be changed regardless. I wasn't sure if I wanted to replace the coils anyway, I'll pull a few and see how they look. Might be just as well.

So I got stuck into the engine today, having a look at the state of things. My stumbling issue may be MAF related. I moved the car when I had the airbox removed. and there was no stumbling. After the airbox was back in, stumbles.

Purchase CRC MAF Sensor Spray if available in Oz.

So I thought I might give an update on this.
New MAF, no change. The engine still starts rough, and today it took me four tries to get it to stay running. I've done some unrelated work to it (just taking care of the normal maintenance stuff) so I'll see if there are any codes since I need to reset the oil change interval anyway. |

I have a 2006 330i (135,000kms) with exactly the same sounding stumbling symptoms you described. Did you find a solution to you issue? Thanks. Richard |
