Weird exclamation mark next to total mileage!

Hi All,

I just bought a 318i (E90 Sedan, 2011) few months ago and I love it!

Recently my car suddenly shows a triangle ' ! ' sign after the total mileage. I search around my manual book but it does not instruct what it means. I scroll around the menu using the button but it doesn't show anything wrong too. Re-ignite my car again show no warning too.

Can someone kindly enlightened me what does this sign means?

(Circled in blue)

Scroll through other items in the menu but nothing wrong!

There's an error stored in the car, use the scroll wheel to find check control then press the BC button on the end of the turn signal stalk to select and it will show you the symbol of what's wrong you can press and hold the BC button to get a ccid code and look that up to get a more accurate definition. There may be multiple errors in the check control as well so try and scroll though that list as well.

There's no such thing as a "lifetime" fluid. OP has 117kms, which is basically a billion miles, on his car. He needs to flush his blinker system

After that many miles the CBS notification for blinker fluid flush is programmed to go defunct and will not let you reset the system. Need Carly to code out the notification...

Well, whatever it was, OP hasn't responded because he's dead due to our collective inability to help him.
The saddest part to me is it took OP longer to take the pics, then MS paint the oddity, then finally post the pics, than it would've taken to simply and figure it out himself before his horrendous death.
A moment of silence for our fallen comrade, please.
And....done.

In the OP's defense, I've never seen the warning triangle in the mileage section of the gauge cluster. On US cars it appears in the section above the mileage readout.

That said, I'm sure the warning message has the same purpose as for US cars and it's just in a different location in the gauges...

The warning you're talking about is when the door is open when the engine is on. The little one next to the mileage just means the computer is detecting that something isn't right

The one I'm referring to is when the the body computer detects an error with the vehicle check system such as a light bulb, low fuel, seat belt not connected, etc. I've never seen an exclamation point in the mileage readout on my US-market car.

Oh gotcha. Next time that happens, press the BC button to make the notification go away and you'll see that the little exclamation mark will be next to the mileage for that warning

Interesting. I've done exactly that many times and never noticed the triangle moves to the mileage display. I'll check next time.

Ok I back~ (from a trip)

BTW a big thanks for those who tried to help me with a serious answer.

Sent my car for a check, my coolant was leaking (what's new for an E90?) Am scheduling a repair on my radiator.

I think there are a few different versions of the cluster screens.

Region and model dependent. Mine is like yours, US, but I have seen these clusters that are slightly different.

So my low oil notification came on on the way home last night. Warning triangle stayed in the section above the odometer section. I'm confident that US gauge cluster is different than the OP's. Again, the warning symbol serves the same purpose regardless of where it shows up.
