Am I being a perfectionist or....?

Few days ago, I noticed that the bumper to trunk alignment isn't very flush.
The bumper alignment on the left is slightly more pushed in than the one on the right.

Also, when looking at it from the side with the trunk closed, you can see the edges of the trunk from the left side (the more pushed in side) but not the right. Very hard to notice but is this normal?????

Was the bumper removed?
Iím the second picture you can barely see a white mark/scratch that looks like a mark the bumper bracket would leave.
Loosen that bolt under that cover in the photo and push the bumper in.

Total that heap...j/k.

Honestly, no car is perfect when it leaves the factory, but wether or not that is normal, or not, is hard to say. As serf said, you may be able to make some adjustments to even it out.

Yes.

I know the feeling, I'm the same way.

As someone said, no car is 100% perfect from the factory, unless it's hand assembled and there was a lot of extra effort into making sure all panel alignment is within a very tight tolerance range. However, That misalignment in your photos isn't too bad at all. It's certainly possible that someone backed into the bumper at some point, or maybe over time it shifted/deformed due to heat or cold cycles. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it (and I'm really picky when it comes to body gap alignment).

If you want to cringe, take a loot at the door alignment or rear hatch alignment on any Tesla Model X. Nearly every one I've seen has a hatch lid that doesn't sit flush with the top of the rear quarter panels, and the tail lights don't line up properly. Or take a look at any FCA product. A friend of mine bought a new Jeep Trackhawk, and had to take it to a separate body shop after the dealer couldn't align the hood properly. I'd be pretty bummed paying $90K for a new Jeep and having to pay a body shop to align the hood when it should have been done correctly at the factory.

If you need to get that close to the bumper for a picture, circle it, upload it, and it's still takes like 5 looks for us to see what you mean, then yes you are being a perfectionist.

I'd part it out. I wouldn't accept that level of inattentiveness in my life.

Garage door and shelf alignment look a little off. Not sure about the car.

In all fairness, I spent about 3 hours making the new fenders / side skirts / hood /bumper fit. They are still not 100% perfect.

Jokes aside, I can relate to the feeling. I'm pretty picky myself and like my things a certain way.

It doesn't look bad at all, so probably best to just leave it be. There really isn't much that could be done about it anyway... other than to part it out and transfer the title to your house over to me
