Engine seized on highway

It's a 07 328i coupe manual, Only hit about 3500 rpm and the engine just stuttered and shut off, oil and coolant were more than good and no leaks. Got some help to push it into a parking lot the starter is engaging but engine not turning just completely dead. Any ideas on how much to fix? Might just get a new car or engine swap cuz I've always wanted to do it.

Have you tried turning it over with a breaker bar on the crankshaft pulley bolt?

Not as yet, I will try that as soon as I get it to a yard. As of right now I checked all the coils and wires everything is okay and no leaks.

I would be surprised if the engine is seized. More likely to be an electrical issue. Do you have a scan tool like ista or inpa?

Tried turning the crank but it's not spinning at all. Tried to pull codes on obd but no codes. The car still has power so I'll wait until I get can my laptop plugged in and run inpa on it

The same thing happened to my 335i the other day.
The alternator bearing failed and at a certain point, it would not spin unless moved around.
Didn’t let the engine turn over via starter or crank pulley by hand. I removed the serpentine belt and the engine spun by hand and it was clear the alternator was at fault because the bearing was all loose.

Try removing the belt and then spinning the engine.

Update: we tried bump starting and dropping the clutch on 1st and the car just stops to a holt almost as if engaging the handbrake. Going to try and get a longer bar to hand crank it one last time. Doubt it is a starter issue but anything is possible. My conclusion up to this point is that it is most like seized since it won't budge at all.

You may be right, the only reason I didn't just take it to a shop to get fixed is because I'm debating putting another dime in the n52.

Are you gonna take the belt off and try, or are you gonna keep guessing?

Cut the belt to see where you stand. Replace it later as it is old anyhow.
