that's not quite the case... they do have to bend the pipe which is why it cost me $200. $50 for the pipe, $125 for the labor and top it off with 10.5% sales tax

well i went by the muffler shop this afternoon to have the work performed and they did not have the magnaflow tips in stock (which they neglected to tell me yesterday). so I rode around this worthless town to 4 or 5 other shops and nobody stocks SS duel 3" tips. had to order them. more waiting

It depends on which muffler shop you go to. Windy City mufflers in chicago quoted me at $50 pipe and labor. I just have to bring my own exhaust tip.

not trying to jack the thread but it still relates to the topic. has anyone did a sound test on their car according to the California muffler laws? would it exceed the limit?

I guess.. but all you are doing is cutting off the muffler and welding up a very short thing of pipe. You can weld back the stock muffler if you want too.

I saw that you had done the 328 to 335 exhaust conversion. I am looking to do a similar setup with stock muffler AND resonator delete. I will replace the stock muffler with a magnaflow and quad tips from cyba. How much did this cost you? I have been getting quoted prices anywhere from $350-500! |

just a warning, If you do a muffler delete and have a cai there is massive loss of low end. I have an electric cut out in my exhaust with a switch in the cabin and when i open it, the low end dies. When its closed i actually get an increase with the cai and before i got a cai i experienced very very little change with just the cut out open. But when combined, forget it.

How are you guys gonna reverse this mod if dealer wants your car in stock form to get something fixed?
I am thinking going this route but dealers want EVERYTHING stock when it comes to big work done. I have seen people pay $50~100 for install only without the tips.

So you mean reweld it when bringing back to dealer? Wouldnt they give problems for the factory exhaust being rewelded back?

are they really going to look? I mean do you think they'd assume you did something to the exhaust where they would have to look? Even if they did, what can they say? your piping has a weld in it? just tell um you backed up over a curb, dented up the muffler and bought a new one off a car in a junk yard and had it welded on.

Its just how the dealers are. If they are fixing your car and you have any kind of obvious mods they wouldnt touch the car. And since they cant deny warranty thats the least they will do to you , tell you to get it in stock form. And this is from a mod FRIENDLY dealer. This is main reason im waiting to install my DP's and get intercoolers with direct bolton.
