Bump in a sidewall - how much should I worry

I just noticed today that my passenger front tire has a slight but evident "bump" on a sidewall. I have no idea how long it's been there, but since the roads in the DC metro area are not that pretty after the winter, I guess it happened at some point after hitting one of many potholes .

The tire is a stock Bridgestone RE050A RFT 235/40/18 front for the e93 sport (pics below).

How concerned should I be? Is it "change right now" situation? "Forget about it?" Or in between? I was planning to change the tires after the summer anyway, but will I have to do it sooner?

Thanks.

Def get a new tire. A sidewall failure at 80 mph would not be cool.

I wouldn't worry to much I definitely wouldn't go much at all if at all over speed limit on freeways though. Real chance of tire blowing on ya. Its up to you really.

Not blow it and wait or blow it and take chance of it messing up your fenders, bumper..or more you know what im getting at.

Get the new tire.

You need to replace it. On the inside of the tire there is about a 5" split that you'll see when they take the tire off. This happened to me 3 times and is the reason I hate RFT tires. I'm running General GMAX all seasons now and I love them for the handling and longevity....and no damn side wall bubbles either!

+1 like I said it aint gona kill ya wait tiny, but you shouldnt go fast at all and be very careful. This type of stuff happens like you said cause of potholes, Be really careful on freeway and also check tire pressure once a week just cause tmps sensor says low air doesnt mean you were not before. For example my care needs 45psi in rear, well car doesnt tell me I need air till 30psi ish.

Thank you all for advice. I will make sure to drive carefully and will look for a tire locally to swap. I'm hoping to find a used one on the forum that will last me till fall. If I don't find anything in a week I'll have to try and get the complete swap done sooner

I took the pics with Nikon D90 with Nikkor 16-85mm. My favorite combo right now, although D80 with CCD sensor seemed to have a more natural color reproduction (CMOS in D90 slightly oversaturates the reds). And no, not iphone5

I know people who ride motorcycles helmet-less without problems too.

Would you recommend that to your girlfriend?
