Combox retrofit- extension cable

I did a combox retrofit a while ago and need to make the installation a bit tidy.

At the moment the black connector that goes to the bottom of the combox is stretching too much. Anyone know if an extension is available?

I told you it's pretty easy! You can find PNP harnesses but it depends on your current configuration (I don't think you have BMW Assist) as to the harness you need.

You can usually find them on eBay for around ~$200 or so. Hit me up and I'll help you find what you need.

Sounds good! I'm done buying go fast parts so this is definitely near the top of things I'm buying next.

My solution was to mount the combox the other way. Only works if you use a retrofit harness for the TCU wires. See here:

That will not work as you need female on one side and male on the other.

Talking New source for FAKRA cables

Hello, Y'all,

This thread seems to be dead so I am going to resurrect it. I am currently in the process of finishing a COMBOX retrofit and found some new ways to order these cables without having to deal with the stealership.

Check out https://rfsupplier.com/search/?Keyword=HSD and what will you find?

That's right! They sell a ton of HSD (High-Speed Data) cables which we can use to avoid having to order from BMW directly.

Here's the best part...the site also lets you order custom FAKRA cables. This is great news for folks like me who like to tinker around with their cars.
