Data Rate Internal HD 2010 models

Does anyone know what the native data storage rate (128kb, 320kb, etc) is on the 2010 iDrive models that rip CD to MP3 format? It sounds really mp3-y to me when I listen to the files that the car ripped to the HD. If it's low, can it be upgraded?

does anyone have any experience using something other than a USB memory stick, like a portable hard drive? Just wondering if that would work.

Satellite radio sounds VERY MP3-y to my ears on my car stereo. Has anyone else noticed this?

CD ripped into HDD will be compressed to approximately 128kps WAV. Satellite Radio compression is in the 32-48kps range MP3.

That would explain what I'm hearing.

If you rip that same CD into 320kps VBR using any commercial software and then download that song into the HDD using the USB port it will be saved as 320kps VBR... not even Voodoo can do something about the Sirius 32kps crapola, though.
