I-Drive update
Hi
I have BMW 3 series (E90),manufactured on 2005 / 08.I made a research and found for June 2005 BMW used CIP 18.00 and for September 2005 CIP 19.00.00. My question is: Is it possible to update my car with Progman v32 (I think this is the latest)? Or if I bring my car for software update they will update it to the latest CIP version? Thank you |

Whether the dealer will do it at no charge or not is somewhat up to them UNLESS you have a problem that is covered by a new update and your car is still under warranty. The software you mention is quite old. I have had my software updated several times by the dealer at no charge. My latest upgrade was to 31.1.0 which I had done several months back.

My experience is like Medemange. However, I always think it is dubious idea to update software if the I drive is functioning perfectly normally. When I got mine updated, it led to bigger problems that were difficult to fix. Maybe this was unusual ordeal, I can't say.

I don't recall when all of the feature adds and changes phased in relative to 18.0. Among the items that were added over the years are:

My NAVI started going totally dead intermittently when I started the car. So the radio, GPS, was out. Could still drive the car though. Anyway, took a while to get it fixed. BMW replaced the CCC unit and it seemed to fix it. Prior to the upgrade software I never had this problem. I don't think it's coincidence. |

Anybody know of a list of progman version and issues resolved with each?
It would be easier to complain about an "issue" resolved in a later progman update if one knew what problems were supposedly resolved in each sw release. Anyone know if the versions/changelogs are posted anywhere?

Has anyone else updated it with out warranty? I'm past 50k miles.. and I want to updates so I can use Point of Interest. I think Mine is a 2005 build or one of the first 2kinds of builds for the e90 330i.

If your SW version is that old, you won't be able to play MP3 cd's. To my knowledge, there is a free update available, which will automatically give you the latest progman.
Btw, there are numerous cases known, where the CCC breaks down after the SW update. It just is a sensitive machine |
