try this
Nothing happens when you put usb in the glovebox usb, the same thing happened to me the first time i tried update, i think the problem is that you have the two files in a folder, what i did was just put them in the root..
Can anyone help with my question?? i have one issue so far, when i go to Map options, two choices are completely greyed out, Satellite Images and Perspective View in 3D. Are these location based options? meaning they are only available in an area where there are buildings, maybe? |

Make sure pkgdb and config.nfm are the only two things on the USB stick.

It technically doesn't void the warranty. Updating the maps via USB is the standard way BMW updates the maps on vehicles. The only thing non-official is the unlock code, it's being generated outside of BMW's dealership network (hence the reason the cost is much lower). With that being said, there have been a few instances where updating the maps has bricked a navigation unit. Sometime this was because the navigation units were from MY09 cars and MY09 cars required a software update in order to update maps over USB. Other times is just because the navigation unit had problems to begin with and the map update just triggered the problem. However, if it's under warranty, you should be able to take it to the dealer and have it taken care of as long as your dealer aren't complete tools. You could just play the role of the dumb consumer and say your navigation stopped working or something. If you don't have a MY09 car, then you shouldn't have to worry about it. If you do have a MY09 car, you'll need to make sure you have had your iDrive software updated at some point before attempting to update the maps. While updating maps is a simple and easy process with a 99+% success rate, updating software on anything (computer, phone, car navigation) has a small chance of failure. |

Just completed a map upgrade on a 2009 335xi to "Eastern Region 2013" in about 4 hours (Start to Finish) I just wanted to thank everyone who commented on this thread as all the comments helped with either learning how to, or troubleshooting an issue - which I had none.
*To anyone looking to upgrade the Navigation to a new map just read this thread a few times and your golden*. After the first 10 to 15 pages I was comfortable enough to do this myself. Zach |

Sorry I should have specified. I mean from reading the boards, then downloading the new map, obtaining the FSC code and loading the map on to a 32g USB thumb drive, then into my cars hard drive.
It took about 40 mins to load once I plugged in the USB thumb drive with the map. So overall not knowing a thing to an updated Nav Map it took 4 hours I hope that helps |

JC,
Na! I just drove and got some food while taking the long way home. I only had to let it idle for about 12 mins so not to bad. Zach |

However, sometimes BMW will preload the next year map FSC into the car from the factory if it's very close to a map release date. It's quite common in Europe where BMW does multiple map updates a year (Europe usually gets two a year while the US normally gets one). Not as common in the US though. |

Downloaded the torrent a month ago and finally got around to the install this week. Took about 45m for the import of map data.
Dracon provided me with a code very quickly and at a great price, I highly recommend his services! note for Mac users: I used my coding VM in parallels to format and correct the usb key. This is the process I followed. 1) mounted usb key in VM - if you have Parallels just tell it that you want the VM to use the key and not the mac host. 2) installed the HP usb key tool. Not sure if it's still available for download but I had a saved copy which I can provide to anyone who needs it. Win7 by default will only format the key with NTFS or exFAT (mine was 64gb). The HP tool formatted it to FAT32. 3) eject key in parallels, unlplug then reinsert for use with macos. From there I copied the config file and pkgdb folders over. Took about an hour. 4) eject key in macos, move back over to the VM and reinsert. Tell parallels to have the VM use the USB 5) delete the .Ds_store and spotlight folders. basically all the hidden stuff macos creates. you just want the config file & pkgdb folders left. Eject and plug it in the car

Hello, so I bought BMW Navigation Professional 2013 on DVD-R from one guy. I tried to insert DVD into car but nothing happens. Tried download navigation from internet, burned with 2x speed on Verbatim DVD-R and my car still doesn't load DVD.. Tried it with USB sticks too.. Any recommendation please?
Have E90 2009 with hard drive. Thank you
