THIS THIS THIS THIS- I have a 2011 BMW 128i and could not find JACKSHI to help me, found this post and didn't want to go through the hassle of stripping a wire because I already couldn't pull out the connector from the junction box until it got to the point I had to do what I had to do. Opening up under the glove box I couldn't get out because there was a push retainer screw holding it in place that I didn't notice, pulled out the middle got it open and upside down I took a video and multiple pics to make sure I had the right wire (you can barely see the green line on the gray) and with a razor I peeled back just enough to be exposed. I the got some cheap amp wire I believe with two other coated copper wires inside and took it apart so I had a thin black and red. I stripped both ends of both wires and hooked the black under the black handle and kinda wrapped around the handle of my jumper cable against the copper, did it for both, set them apart on the ground, then I went back upside down and had to shove the end of the black wire into where I saw the brown coming from, once I did that I hooked the other end to my new battery and brushed the positive against the exposed copper and fucking success, I had my girlfriend come out and pull it open as it clicked because it wouldn't swing open but it gave it enough power to click and unlock, thank you saved me a trip to the dealership and a lot of money I thought i'd have to tear out my back speaker💀
Lesson Learned
BACK SEATS DOWN WHEN TAKING OUT THE BATTERY AS WELL AS TOWEL IN THE WAY OF THE LATCH ITS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE AND THANKS AGAIN
This place is indeed a god-send... keep posting and contributing!

Open trunk when battery is disconected (E90 Euro)

I had this same issue on an 2011 E90 (European model). In the EUROPEAN VERSIONS of the e90 there is no keyhole for the boot above the license plate. Also no release lever for the boot inside the car. ALSO there is no way to let down/ remove the back seats from inside the car (this can only be done from inside the boot). When the battery is fully disconnected and power cables are dissembled in the boot you wont be able to get power by jumping the car from positive and negative terminals on the engine block either. Your best bet then is to find the main lead of wires leading back into the boot from under a cover on the passenger side floor just at the door edge. You can cut through the large red cables until you can connect jump cables from a charger unit and get power from there. The boot should open then using the button on carkeys.

Getting rid of the trunk lock has got to be one of BMW's dumber decisions. I wonder which Harvard MBA came up with that penny pinching idea.

Luckily my 2009 E90 with a Oct 2008 build date still has the lock for whatever reason.

Just chiming in here - looks like the LCI E90 had the trunk lock until 01/2009.

My old LCI 335i had the lock, never used it though. Interestingly the part without the trunk lock is $8 more expensive…

This is an addition to a previous post I made on this thread. 2011 335d with no battery in it. Trunk closed and locked. My son studied the wiring diagram and got the trunk to unlatch my opening up the fuse box and computer box; and engery-zing the latch somehow. Its been six months ago (5/2023), and he doesn't remember exactly what he did and I wasn't paying attention at the time, as I was working on something else. I had forgotten about him going into the fuse box (the one behind the glove box) but we were looking over things before firing up the 335d after mods and maintenance; and noticed he had disconnected the lower electrical panel that plugs into the lower fuse box assembly. I hope this helps.

If jumping the car doesn't work or if the batt is disconnected try this:

Those who have split folding seats and a ski pass through, that panel can be taken out. Reach in and use clothes hanger to pull the emergency trunk release cord.

Yeah, you can use a simple 20V tool battery and energize the wire if you know which one. I knew at one point, but forget... saying a yellow one, but don't hold me to it!

Yep, that is what my son did. Engerized trunk latch through fuse panel in glove box. He doesn't remember which fuse he engerized.
