I believe the impedance would drop a bit, so the component set would receive a little more power than before. Sure it sounds different, voices are now coming from in front of you rather than the left tweeter! If it is too bright for you, bring down the treble a bit or tweak the EQ in the upper bands. Start off with Malek's settings (in the sticky) and then go from there.

It depends on how the set is filtered. If the "crossover" is nothing but a high-pass filter on the tweeter then the impedance will drop but only in the frequesncies the tweeter sees. If it's a true-two way crossover then above the crossover point the amp will see the impedance of the tweeter. Below the crossover point the amp will see the impedance of the mid.

I noticed there are still additional plug/socket for the tweeter, why not do two tweeter for the center?

No silly, one plug is for the signal coming from the amp, and the other is for the tweeter!

I believe the tweeter has only a high-pass filter and the pictures confirm it. The center channel is pleasantly louder and clearer for me. I played with the settings for a week now. "Concert" setting seems to be the best, although turning off L7 is not bad either.
I think this upgrade is a "must-do" for the OEM Logic 7 systems. I took out both tweeters from the rear deck (you don't need them back there anyway), and plugged one to the center channel. Good post kaigoss. Thank you.

google "technic diy files center speaker"...but basically carefully insert something thin (screwdriver will work if you are very very careful, plastic is better, between the grille and the dash on the edge closest to you. push down about a 1/4 of inch and then pry. 3 screws attach the center speaker.

Does anyone have the part numbers for the tweeter/inline crossover/connector? I would rather buy the parts new then take one from the rear.

Thanks

Which tweeter do you pull from the rear-left or right? I have 2 grills on my rear deck that I noticed, are those just tweeters?

Oh and how do you remove the rear deck grill to gain access to the tweeter? Dont see any gaps to get into.

Just stick a flathead under the near edge, get it under then pull up. It will pop free then just grab with your fingers and work off the other clips. There are two clips on the near side closeish to the edges. Pry a bit off center to get one free.

This is fine for trial but I would buy the tweeter as L7 benefits from having tweeters in center AND rear

Not sure, someone with more expertise would have to answer that... or email/call the guys at Tischer Monday.

You did. I was only saying that even though kaigoss pulled from rear, i might test it that way but i would leave the tweeter in the rear for a permanent install.

I've been thinking about just replacing the center channel with a coaxial. I don't want anything expensive considering I'm going to get new speakers eventually. Any suggestions for a 2 ohm coaxial speaker? Also since there sold in pairs anyone want to split the pair with me?

A coax is a good idea but may not be the best idea if you are just upgrading stock L7 system as it is tuned for the L7 speakers.

Infinity kappa 42.9i is 2 ohm. The rainbow SL 100 is 4 ohm but almost as efficient on the same power.

The individual audio coax is 4 ohm and i dont know about sensitivity but it is drop in.
