BMW E9x 1000$ suspension overhaul challenge

Hey guys!
After purchasing my 3rd 335i and running it for about 3 months it was time for a major overhaul. The stock sport suspension was tired and in dire need of replacement. So i set myself a loose budget of 1000$ and set out to make the 335i handle like it should have from the factory. Below is the modifications I did and the benefits each provided. Cheers and I encourage all of you looking to upgrade to seriously consider these modifications.

SOLO-WERKS S1 Coilovers (600$):

http://shop.solo-werks.com/solo-werk...oupe-3-5-door/

After a lot of research I decided to take the leap of faith with the somewhat unproven Solowerks coilover setup, and I am very happy to say this decision was the perfect fit for my car. The setup is very comfortable, compliant, and way sharper than the stock OE suspension. There is none of that horrible bounce associated with lesser quality suspensions and car inspires great confidence. I was skeptical to go with this setup but I am very glad I did and you will not be disappointed if you deicide to go this route with your E9x.

BMW E93 M3 28MM Front Sway Bar (90$):

BMW part # 31352283965

To reduce the roll and sharpen up the front end I went with the E93 M3 front swaybar. This helped reduce the understeer I was feeling with the 225 tire up front. On weight transfer the front is more eager to grip providing more confidence entering the corner. I purchased my swaybar off of Ebay

BMW E9x M3 Lower Control Arms + Headlight leveling sensor (175$)

BMW part #
31126770850
31126770849
37142283867

The lower control arm upgrade sharpened up the steering tremendously. The steering feels much more direct and gives the driver alot more confidence to carry higher speeds into corners. Also this allowed for more negative camber in the front to lessen the understeer effect.

Megan Racing Front Strut Bar (85$)

https://www.amazon.com/Megan-Race-Sp.../dp/B00D4DK05U

This was the final part of the puzzle and you could forgo this step if you feel the need but the strut brace tied the whole package together making the chassis feel more rigid and helped reduce the sloppiness the 335i has from the factory.

Street/Autocross Oriented Alignment (100$) (CRUCIAL)
After installing all your new go fast parts you will need an alignment because after the install of the lower control arms its so far out of wack that it is dangerous to drive the car medium to long distances. not to mention your tires will hate you. This step is very important because it ensures all your new components are dialed in correctly and work together in harmony.

Total cost 950$ + shipping

Install + alignment Cost 350$

Installed and balanced by the Master;

Farley - Eurotech Motorsports
15A Cochituate Street in Natick, MA.

All in all I am very happy with the new feel of my 335i. Can't wait to throw the Supersports on once the weather warms up! Lined below is a video my buddy and I put together in order to show off the new setup. Cheers and I will do my best to answer any questions as they come!

Pretty much going with this setup before summer except ST coilovers instead of the S1's. What made you go with the Megan strut brace? Trying to figure out which brace to get.

Specs on the coilovers? I didn't see spring rates listed anywhere...leap of faith indeed.

Nice price on the FSB

Also, all that work and only a bit of extra camber gained up front? I'd factor in camber plates as well; fixed plates at the least. Makes a big difference and well worth the money.

hey guys,
to answer the first question, a bar is a bar, the megan racing one provided great fitment, looks good under the hood and was cheap.

unfortunately I am unsure as to the specs of the coilovers, I would contact Solowerks directly to get that info, and yea camber plates might be a summer mod!

How about, instead of just coming in here to peddle your goods, you offer some useful information about the product...like what FCobra94 asked.

I’m looking at getting the s1 coil overs as well. How do they compare to stock on ride comfort when it comes to pot holes or rough roads? Also any annoying creaks or rattles from the coils?
