Indeed it is and surely good business sense. Why would you go to a specialist for routine servicing if the franchised dealer will do for the same price? This is bound to generate good business for the group and improve customer relations.

Good on them. But essentially just commercial sense. Better to have the technicians earning something than sitting there idle. They will still want to be paid at the end of the month (if they're busy or not)!

Now they just need to stop lifting our leg over the price of the oil... 5 litres of Syner Z is £35. That would just about get a litre of Castrol/Shell?!!? Well, maybe 2!

rabble, this post is telling us what Sytner are offering it.

On a seperate note I tried price matching at another dealer and they'd have none of it.

Anneka, thats good offer from Sytner, looks like I can save more now. Will be in touch soon for servicing of one of the cars. I must say where possible she will get very keen prices

This was around at sytner high wycombe when i had my 335d serviced in sept 09, only problem was that when i went to pick up the car at the end of the day the service adviser printed out an invoice for much more than at the time of booking !. When i informed him that the price agreed at the time of booking was £*** he gave me a blank look. Eventually got to the price i was quoted but he said there was nothing on the system to mention that price ! and that they 'don`t normally do that sort of thing'.
So the moral of the story is when u drop the car off double check the quoted price or even better get it in writing otherwise you will be made tom feel like you`re pulling a fast one !.

When I took mine to Sytner Chigwell, one of the first things the SA confirmed was the price I'd been quoted

will there be any plans on extending this to the latest models that don't have fixed interval servicing?

cheers!

also, why not matching on M cars.. something special about them that you won't price match..

Question time's getting a bit tough, I suppose this is how Gordon feels.

As far as I am aware we do try our best to ensure that our standard pricing is competitive against our primary competitors; being the Dealers local to us. However, if you do find that a local Dealer or BMW Specialist is providing one of these services at a more competitive price, please let us know and we will be happy to price match.

Also BGM, I will need to look into this and will get back to you.

Anneka,

Easy one for you.

My 135 needs some minor servicing (PAS Fluid) and will soon need oil and an inspection.

I've been holding off doing anything with it because I didn't want to pay dealer rates just for Fluid change but I want the stamp and obc reset that only a dealer could give me.

If I drive down to Sytner Sheffield, will they match my local BM Care specialist (Leeds) as it's not exactly local?

If it helps, I bought my 135 from Sytner, so my thinking is there is some value in keeping me in the group.

My thoughts exactly - our cars don't have Inspection 1 and 2 intervals. So for E9x they will only price match on oil changes? Is that right?

The local Indy I use charges £30 labour (3/4 hour) for an oil and filter and microfilter change. They wash it too if they have time, but either way i'm not fussed about that.

TBH if the dealers offered it for FREE I'd still go to the indy for the sake of £30.

Yes - labour only.

The sytner offer is about matching labour when you provide your own BMW parts / approved oil.

Previously I couldn't be bothered with remebering to buy my own oil, so instead I bulk bought 25 litres from Opie oils who give a good discount the more you buy and keep the spare in the shed for future services. The Indy charges parts at retail price the same as the dealer does.

Don't forget if you join the BMW Car club (£45 per year) as well as a great monthly magazine (with details and reviews of all the local indy BMW specialists ) you also get 10% off all parts from the dealers nationwide when you show your membership, so that can be a good saving at service time.

I could get 10% off the filter etc and then give that to the Indy, but I can't be bothered going to the dealers on a saturday morning to save £1 or so.

For the moment the offer is as described; on Inspection I, Inspection II and Oil Services. However, if you have a quote for a different service and would like to find out what Sytner can offer, please let me know .

RagingKileak, the same applies, if you could provide the details of your written quotation I will liaise with Service to see what we can offer. Pricing decisions will remain the right of the Service Manager.
For all alternative services, drop me a line and I will find out what we can do.

When supplying a quote please ensure that you have a written quotation that meets the following criteria:

- Quotation printed on letter headed paper.
- From a Registered Company.
- Clearly showing all Part Numbers and the Type of Oil that will be used.

I hope this helps
Anneka
