possibly moving in Florida..
Hey guys..Im a South Jersey guy and was considering moving down there. I've been in IT for 3 years now and was wondering how's the job market down there. Anybody in IT on the forums that lives down there? Im really not sure what area is better but Im looking into Fort Lauderdale. I know a guy thats looking to rent his fathers house. This would be a 2 - 3 year move for me. Any advice possibly for apartments as well as jobs? I have a wife and 2 children and Im going on age 26 this year. The move would be around the end of 2011. Let me know. Thanks guys!

I would think as long as you stick to the big cities like Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Miami you should be ok. do you have DOD clearance ? it always helps.

I use to live in Bradenton many years ago. Not a bad place except for all the retirees! LOTS of old people hahaha I prefer the East coast. Boca and such. Too bad I'm stuck in Jax but we're building a group of enthusiasts to ease the pain haha

I work in IT, albeit farther south than Bradenton. The job market is picking up down here but companies have too many demands right now, i.e. DBA, Web Admin and Exchange Admin all in one. The jobs are out there if you have the credentials. Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll do my best to help you out.

At the company I am at now and have been here for 3 years. I havent really got my hands dirty that much. I am a level 1 support engineer. AKA the NOC. Im looking to enhance my skills. It was pretty much self study and my own labs that allowed me to obtain a CCNP.

Jacksonville is a hot bed for technology. Citibank, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Chase, Everbank........ I've been in IT here since 1994. Currently work at Citi (last 11 years), Merrill b4 that. Very good market here.... there ARE jobs here.

I'm an IT Auditor and I'm constantly getting calls from recruiters in the Tampa area. That's probably your best area in the forseeable future, but who knows, you'll end up where your supposed to be. This is a great state to live in.
