To the people who have done this mod: what effect has this had on your stability control? I recently quickened this steering ratio on another car I have and the stability control no longer works. The system compares speed, steering angle, and yaw rate. If you quicken the steering the steering angle sensor values will no longer match the programmed values in the stability control. The yaw rate will be faster for a given speed and steering angle making the car react as if it's oversteering. You would need to reprogram the DSC unit or somehow modify the signal from the steering angle sensor.

The only reason why anyone would want faster steering is so that they can drive the car more effectively on track and autox events. In both situations the traction control should be completely disabled any way. I fail to see the problem here...

Didn't mess with my car, one of my favorite mods. Traction control is always off lol!

What about on the street? I'm just wondering if anyone got it to work again or at least found a way to have it disabled by default when the car starts.

Nothing plugs in, you leave servo unplugged. I didn't even have steering angle sensor recalibrated.

Interesting. I'm gonna try that with my other car so I don't have to keep pressing the button every time I start. With the BMW though you'll have to manually cancel the turn signals because BMW.

How about adverse effect on the function of the ABS? Granted, you can turn off DTC but you can't turn off ABS and is known fact that bad steering position sensor will throw out faulty codes for the ABS as well because the system will malfunction. I have seen this on E90 and other BWM's as well, e46 in particular.
You will have these codes:

plugged or not servo has nothing to do with the steering position sensor as that is mounted on the steering column slip ring

The abs light isn't on. I wonder if it still works. Only the yellow "brake" light is on.

I love it too !!!!!

on heavy track use (lot of turns) the oil can spill out of the reservoir.

this is a common known M3 problem. we should upgrade to the bigger reservoir of the E92 with active steering.

Any hope that BMS will include the control of the stiffness in a new release of the JB4?

I actually control the stiffness by sending a PWM signal to the valve. but it is or too stiff for low speed or too light for high speed.... a variable PWM is needed

Hope this helps guys....

I found that on a 1m the JBE controls the servotronic (pretty sure the dme does on a m3)

Hopefully that means that we can make servotronic work on our cars by possibly programming/coding the jbe and wiring it up

So the wires from servotronic go to the large connector on the back of the JBE/JB connector (X14270)

Pin 5 (black wire with brown stripe)
pin 6 (black wire with white stripe)

These are not listed in ANY wiring diagram, with factory diagnostic software it says those pins are not used. I verified by checking continuity between the servotronic connector and the pins at the jbe. Its 100% accurate.

The ZB number of the jbe that has working servotronic is 9264577

Remember this is on a 1M, im 80% sure this will work on a e90. It should work for sure on a 135i.

GOOD LUCK!
