Yep. I personally know the guys at Edmunds. They encountered the same issue as I did with dyno testing the Step. Namely, the couldn't go full throttle until 4000rpm or so or else it would downshift.

I don't think anyone will call for that but at this point there are quite a few Xede equipped cars out there so I am getting antsy for some actual performance numbers in place of all the butt dyno impressions (not that I don't appreciate those as well )

Come on guys, who is going to be the first to get to a track and show us what all this HP and torque is worth in a straight line?

From a stop with stock tires it will be very hard to get a good idea of the performance. Most likely even on the track it will still spin a fair ammount. I am going to put different wheels/and larger tires on but that wont be for a few months. Maybe one of these days after I have my oil changed/maybe a little warmer weather (not a lot warmer but enough to help heat up the tires) Ill hit up the 1/4 track.

PresaMat,

Have you gone for your scheduled maintenance yet since you've had your XEDE installed. Or have you taken it to BMW service at all?

I'm trying to figure out if the guys at BMW are able to spot the XEDE?

my car does not downshift out of 4th gear if I floor it.. just dont use the kickdown button... I do it all the time on the highway... i will see how low I can get the RPMS in fourth gear while flooring, and post my results... I think the downshift into 2nd is either the kickdown mode, or a speed related thing... (manual shifts back down to 2nd at low speeds (under 10mph). I have a hard time beleiving that edmunds and shiv both are mistaken... so i am interested to see what i can do with 4th gear...

I had plans to make a few 1/4 mile runs both stock and modified at Infineon, but their Wednesday night drag races are closed for 2007.

Stating the obvious here, but those time slips are not always an indication of the true nature of the car... driver abilities play a significant role in the car's potential. Anyone can take their car to a track and make some runs, but does that make him/her a driver who can maximize the car? I could've just did a wild burnout and ran a 15 flat with my 335!!!

Sounds like Shiv and Edmunds don't know how to use the manual mode. The trans must be put in DS mose, then use the paddles to shift into 3rd or 4th. Then give it full throttle but don't use the kickdown button at the end of the gas peddle. You are already at 100% power before you reach the kickdown button. Hope that makes sense.
