That's not half bad. Good effort.

I'm surprised you didn't take out the seats at least. It's only 4 boots each... Would've avoided the visible overspray on the trim covers.

I think he left the seats in because he is replacing them so over spray doesn't really matter, until it comes time to sell them

I guess I am in the minority...

you spray painted the dash... it looks like you missed the corner where the a-pillar comes down. you didn't dye or paint the carpet under the center console, but had it all out...

looks like you missed under the hvac controls where center console tucks.

The center armrest looks beat still, why not wrap it in something or just source a better used one.

I can imagine the smell from all this painting...

The stock pieces peel as is, I can't imagine this lasting more than a year. Anyone on the passenger side that crosses a leg, or a girl will put her feet up, or her nails will scratch the paint off when she goes to put her starbucks in a cupholder.

I think we can all admit that it's not perfect, but compared to the state of the interior before, I think it's a vast improvement.

I also don't think its fair to assume that because its spray paint its going to chip or peel. In one of the weaker moments from my youth I actually spray painted the dash of my honda civic. It looked like crap because I rushed it and its faded over the years but not one chip in the paint. If the OP used the correct paint then he should be good for at least a few years.

This kind of DiY might not be for everyone but I applaud the effort and still think it looks much better than before.

you can see the spray paint can in the pic and the spray pattern on the lower dash... its spray paint.

Dye for the carpet....maybe. still not convinced.

Lower dash and cupholders are high traffic zones. This is a BMW. But with prices so cheap I guess it might as well be a civic.

Its clear a lot of effort and care went into it. But that doesn't mean it was done right.

I would agree and say it wasn’t 100% perfect. But seeing how I only paid $1200 for the car. It makes me 1000x happier with the build. Not considering how bad of shape the interior was prior.

I'm in agreement, somewhat. The products available these days labeled as "dye", really aren't a dye. They're just formulations designed to better adhere to vinyl/plastic and in some cases leather. I've used them, and will continue to in certain situations, but just like anything else painted, quality and longevity are directly proportional to PREP. In the past, I've always removed every single piece I was going to paint. It then got a soapy bath(yes, in a bath tub), then de-greaser, then an adhesion promoter, then the "dye". Results were great, the parts looked like new and lasted for years. The carpet...that's atrocious. I bet it's all nappy and stiff...although some have had somewhat acceptable results by spraying it and brushing it while it's still wet.

I think its a HUGE improvement from before, you can nitpick all you want but that interior was looking like a homeless person lived in it.

Nice work OP

Wow you did an amazing job, I might hop on this however keep the seats tan. In my e39 I wanted to replicated the m5's two tone interior, inspired by a fellow forum member, however never gotten around to it.

Ever since buying my e90 last year I always regretted not waiting to find an example with black interior. Your work is very inspiring, great job!

I've subbed and am patiently waiting for the DIY video!

What paint did you use?
I'm asking because I too have a paint-match job and I am looking for a good black matte paint.

Someone recommended...
Colorbond 258 BMW Black LVP Leather, Vinyl & Hard Plastic Refinisher Spray Paint - 12 oz.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1

...but your paint job looks amazing!!!!!

I need to paint match my Happy Robot rear cubby/power console to the rest of my black console.
