Realistically there is no such thing as intake temps that are too low. As long as the engine/transmission are warmed up properly, as stated previously it's probably a lack of traction.

On the other hand I'd never remove a tune for cold weather. Get the correct tires and modulate that skinny pedal.

335i ?

How long does it take for your car to hit operating oil temp. Did it actually hit it at one point or not even?

Oh yea, 335i, manual, and no problems to get to operating oil temperature. It takes longer but not much longer then it would at 0c. We had similar discussion last year and I posted photos in a different thread. I will post some from yesterday. this is after 45 min run, 15 min city, 30 min hwy to go to work. Oil temp was 9?c on the hwy.

Those temps are horrible.

Regular 50/50 mix is only good down to -30f or so by the way lol... I would not daily a car I care about in that temperature. Leave the race car in the garage and take a toyota to work lol

Oh wow ok thanks for the reply. I think I definitely have a thermostat issue then.

My oil temps won't budge over 72c cruising on the highway and my coolant dipped from 70c (was idling for 15 mins that's how I can get it that hot) to 47 over 10 mins on the highway. I did some testing yesterday and it was only -17c.

Thing is I have no thermostat codes... but for only 100$ I think I'll still swap it out.

Thing is with cold weather usually comes snow, slush, ice and all that shit aswell haha

No tires will be able to handle that. My stage 2 MHD tune is worthless in the winter. Altough I admit I am RWD maybe XI have better use for it.

50/50 mix is good to -37c/-34.6f and 60/40 mix are good to -52c/-61.6f

Depends on the tune, the oil, how good the pump is, how good the thermostat is, how you drive and etc... For reference I use Rotella T6 0w-40 (correct, different than 5w-40) I just drove it now to go get lunch. Maybe 10min city and 20hwy, each direction. -22c ambient, 90c coolant and oil. Photos are from hwy.

Thanks again. I don't want to hijack the thread haha but I made a post about it https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1578807 and I logged my hour drive and the coolant only hits 70c when I was idling. On the highway it just drops.

And I just realized about 400km ago I did actually have a thermostat code, "2EF4 DME: Map thermostat, mechanism". I'll have to look into what it means exactly but I think this is it.

It was a guy who use to run a small shop and now does it out of his garage. I think his name was Erik or Alex maybe, I found his info on the MNBMW facebook page a long time ago.

Eurotech in New Brighton does legit work, Daniel is a wizard with the extended warranty companies and I have had north of 4g covered in random breakdowns, even covering my waterpump. Its the only shop I go too when I cant fix it myself or its covered under warranty.

It was weather related. A lot of businesses around were closed. Those that were open and have food I want were further away. I would have not done it on a regular day due to traffic.
