Arrow Coolant Warning

Hey guys,

I need some advice on coolant levels. Today I started up the car again after a short drive, got an amber coolant warning so drove it home as I was less than a mile away.

After the car had cooled, I checked the coolant level only to find it was really low, the indication gauge was plunged deep inside the tank. Now the last time I checked the coolant was probably sometime last year. So I mixed some coolant up and filled the tank again. I had to put in 750ml to get it almost to full level.

This is the how far the gauge has come up after 750ml coolant:

This seems quite a lot of coolant to fill, am I right in thinking that?

I can't see any obvious leaks from looking around the tank and pipe that comes off it. I just find it worrying as about 10k miles ago I had to have a new water pump, thermostat etc fitted which was a big bill, so assumed it would run now for a while.

Any ideas or feedback would help.

Cheers,

Bhavik

May not have been fully bled after the water pump replacement. Should always check the level a week or two after replacement.

Cheers mate, I'll have to keep an eye on it over the next few weeks and see if its doesn't start to dip again.

Definitely this.

Often you can have pockets of air stuck in the system, that only burp their way out after a good thraping.
