put different diesel in, now "check engine" light

Hiya chaps, 335d owner here, had it for a year and a half, never had any problems, always run "supermarket" diesel.. I know. I know. Bad.

Recently decided to put through a tank of Vpower diesel in a moment of generousness, surprise surprise couple of miles down the road from the petrol station yellow "check engine" light comes on. Car drives normally, no limp modes, no slowdowns, pulls like a train.

Popped to my local indy and there were some airflow sensor errors stored in the computer. He cleared them and (so far) all is well.

Has anyone seen such behavior after switching fuels?

Had exactly the same issue with the other halfs Audi TT after putting V-Power in it, albeit petrol.

Cleared the code and it's never come back.

Prob just threw a wobbly changing the mixture settings after being set for the same thing for so long or some of the muck coming off from the detergent in the fuel working its magic.

Cheers, drove car for 30 miles this morning, light had not returned and car seems fine. I'm hoping it was a fluke.

Chances are it will have been the car throwing a wobbler because it's noticed new parameters for detonation / compression and is having to adapt to it.
I sometimes get it on my 335i when I move from Texaco to Shell (that, and the n54 is a cantankerous bugger!!!)

does the check engine light go away on its own after ECU adjusts in your case or do you have to clear it? ever read the codes and what were they?

It was a coincidence.

Fuel cant cause airflow sensor faults.

right, so code has returned after 150 miles.
my local indy tells me that if the car is running fine, i should live with it, he's also saying that he's seen the code return even if sensor was changed.

should i bother calling BMW about it ?

Car runs fine, pulls like a train and fuel usage hasn't really changed.

What are your thoughts chaps?
